Experienced Mechanic

Summary/Objective 

The primary duties of a Senior heavy equipment/truck mechanic include performing diagnostic tests on diesel/or gas vehicles to find faults, analyzing diagnostic test results and repairing or replacing engines, steering, transmission, braking or lighting system

Essential Functions

• Ability to diagnose and perform basic, intermediate, and advanced vehicle maintenance and repairs.


• Engine tune-ups


• Test, inspect and work on hydraulics, valves, motors, hoses, cylinders, etc...


• Replacing vehicle engines, steering mechanisms, transmissions and braking systems


• Use diagnostic tools to test vehicle components


• Analyze diagnostic test results to complete troubleshooting and repairs needed


• Oil changes


• Tire rotation and tire changes


• Replace filters


• Ability to work on mechanical and electrical systems


• Replace various parts and components


• Performing preventative maintenance on service trucks.


• Maintaining detailed records of serviced vehicles.


• Conduct test drives on trucks


• Perform quality inspections prior to returning vehicles to the crew


• Communication with vehicle operators


• Welding/Fabricating skills


• Ability to train and foster other Jr mechanics to grow


• CDL A is a plus but not a requirement

Competencies

• Experience as an automotive/diesel mechanic


• Knowledge of shop equipment


• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills


• Ability to meet deadlines

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment


• Must have your own tools


• Must be able to travel as needed


• Work may be required on weekends


• Must be 21 years of age

Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 60 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with weekends and travel expected.

Travel
Travel is required.

Required Education and Experience

• Have a minimum of 3 years’ experience troubleshooting and repairing heavy diesel equipment/trucks


• ASE Diesel Certification advantageous


• Advanced knowledge of diesel engine components.


• Good IT and diagnostic skills.


• Degree or diploma in mechanical or automotive engineering


• Excellent mechanical aptitude

Eligibility Qualifications

• 10-year criminal background search.


• Clean driving history


• Pre-employment drug screen


• Valid Driver's License (REAL ID).


• Social Security Card.
