Position Overview:
As an Optometric Assistant, you will be the first point of contact for our patients and play a vital role in delivering exceptional service. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, customer service, and organizational skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet and check-in patients with a warm and professional demeanor.
- Schedule and confirm appointments efficiently.
- Assist patients with contact lenses.
- Perform pre-testing and diagnostic procedures, including visual acuity tests, retinal imaging, and tonometry.
- Maintain accurate patient records and ensure all documentation is up-to-date.
- Educate patients about eye care products, procedures, and services.
- Handle insurance verifications and billing inquiries.
- Collaborate with the team to ensure smooth clinic operations.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as an Optometric Assistant.
- Strong multitasking and organizational skills.

Texas State Optical was established in 1936 when the Rogers family opened the first TSO office in Beaumont, Texas. Our founders planned for TSO’s continuous growth and expansion of services, but not without first building a foundation of patient care and quality products that stand the test of time. It became their vision to offer patients convenient locations, qualified Doctors of Optometry and a complete line of competitively priced eyewear that is fashionable and functional. These core values have remained unchanged throughout the years.
TSO Briargrove has been serving the Westheimer area, Westside Houston, Galleria and the surrounding Houston, TX areas. Our office is located at 6100 Westheimer Rd at Greenridge in the Briargrove Shopping Center, between Hillcroft and Fountain View.
