Key responsibilities:

Installation:

Installing new plumbing fixtures, pipes, and appliances like toilets, sinks, water heaters, and dishwashers.

Repair and Maintenance:

Diagnosing and fixing plumbing issues such as leaks, clogged drains, faulty faucets, and broken pipes.

Reading blueprints:

Interpreting building plans to understand the layout of plumbing systems.

Code compliance:

Ensuring all plumbing work meets local building codes and safety standards.

Customer interaction:

Communicating with clients to understand their needs, provide estimates, and discuss project details.

Troubleshooting:

Identifying the root cause of plumbing problems and determining the best course of action to resolve them.

Material selection:

Choosing appropriate pipes, fittings, and other materials for specific plumbing jobs.

Permits and inspections:

Obtaining necessary permits for plumbing work and coordinating with inspectors to ensure compliance.

Required skills:

Technical knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of plumbing systems, including pipe types, materials, and installation techniques

Hand tools proficiency: Ability to use various plumbing tools like wrenches, pipe cutters, drills, and threaders

Problem-solving skills: Identifying and resolving complex plumbing issues

Physical ability: Ability to work in confined spaces, lift heavy objects, and stand for extended periods

Communication skills: Effectively communicating with clients and other professionals

Work environment:

Primarily working in residential and commercial buildings

May involve working outdoors in some situations

Exposure to wet and dirty working conditions
