The Enterprise Systems Development (ESD) unit in the Naval Nuclear Laboratory (NNL) is seeking a Principal Project Manager to help lead delivery of key enterprise systems that support site maintenance and operations. Initially, this position will focus on supporting the planning and implementation of NNL's Integrated Workplace Management System (IWMS) on PrimeNet using the ServiceNow platform, and coordination of related initiatives across the ESD portfolio including support of Facilities Information Management System (FIMS) reporting. This role is well suited for a project manager who is comfortable working in a technical environment, collaborating with business and IT stakeholders, and providing leadership across multiple concurrent efforts.
Key Responsibilities
• Support IWMS Project Management
o Plan and manage the implementation of the Integrated Workplace Management System on the ServiceNow platform, including scope, schedule, risk, and stakeholder management.
o Coordinate with software developers, system architects, data migration specialists, and the site sponsor to ensure requirements are clearly defined and delivered.
o Facilitate workshops, requirements sessions, and user acceptance testing for IWMS capabilities (e.g., preventive and corrective maintenance, space management, asset management, work management).
• Project Management Support Across the Unit
o Provide backup and surge support for project management activities across the ESD unit, including project planning, tracking, and reporting for other enterprise systems projects.
o Contribute to the continuous improvement of project management practices, tools, and templates.
o Monitor and report project status, risks, issues, and resource needs to leadership.
• Experience managing medium to large IT or business systems projects, preferably involving enterprise platforms, facility management, maintenance management, or similar operational domains.
• Familiarity with implementation of enterprise platforms such as ServiceNow (or similar) and coordinating work across technical and functional teams.
• Knowledge of or exposure to facilities management, asset management, or operations environments, including an understanding of related data and reporting needs.
• Experience supporting or coordinating regulatory or programmatic reporting (FIMS or similar reporting requirements is a plus).
• Ability to collaborate effectively with external vendors, including coordinating schedules, managing development activities, and ensuring alignment with project objectives and timelines.
• Strong skills in:
o Project planning, scheduling, and dependency management.
o Risk, issue, and change management.
o Stakeholder engagement and communication at all organizational levels.
• Proficiency with common project management and collaboration tools (e.g., Microsoft Project or equivalent, Excel, Teams, SharePoint, or similar).
• Demonstrated ability to:
o Work effectively in a matrixed, multi disciplinary team environment.
o Manage competing priorities and adapt to evolving requirements.
o Provide clear, concise documentation and status reporting.
The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is operated for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) by Fluor Marine Propulsion, LLC (FMP), a wholly owned subsidiary of Fluor Corporation. Naval Nuclear Laboratory personnel are FMP employees who work at four DOE facilities: Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory, Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory, Kenneth A. For nearly 70 years, the Naval Nuclear Laboratory has developed advanced nuclear propulsion technology, provided technical support, and trained world-class nuclear operators to ensure the safe and reliable operation of our nation's submarine and aircraft carrier Fleets.
