Experienced Sheet Metal Fabricator - HVAC Support

Are you an experienced HVAC technician or sheet metal fabricator looking to step off the job site but still make a direct impact? We’re seeking a skilled individual to take ownership of our in-house sheet metal operations and support our field teams with high-quality, timely metalwork.

This is a hands-on role ideal for someone with fabrication experience and a deep understanding of HVAC systems. You’ll be a key player in a family-owned business that values quality, reliability, and craftsmanship.

Position Summary

We’re looking for someone who can:

• Own and manage day-to-day operations of our sheet metal shop
• Fabricate components for HVAC install and service jobs
• Stage materials and equipment for field crews
• Maintain shop safety, organization, and productivity
• Support our growing team by training others and improving processes

Key Responsibilities

• Fabricate metal for upcoming HVAC installation projects
• Produce custom pieces on demand for coil swaps and duct modifications
• Maintain inventory levels of stock parts (bases, drops, canvases, caps, slips, drives)
• Build safety pans, transitions, and commercial ductwork as needed
• Assist with boiler prefab work
• Stage new HVAC equipment and required materials for the next day’s installations
• Train other personnel in sheet metal layout, tools, and safety practices
• Keep the shop clean, safe, and well-organized
• Perform standard maintenance on fabrication equipment
• Notify management and coordinate major repairs when needed
• Collaborate with HVAC install office staff for scheduling and data entry

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in sheet metal fabrication (HVAC preferred)
• Proficient with sheet metal layout and fabrication for HVAC systems
• Ability to understand job needs through phone calls or field photos
• Comfortable working independently and managing shifting daily priorities
• Can operate or learn to operate plasma cutter and standard sheet metal tools
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and mechanical drawings
• Basic computer and data entry skills
• Forklift certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and remain on feet for extended periods
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
