Necessary Skills

Prepare returns for sales and use tax and other state and local taxes

Research and consult on various state and local tax matters

Utilize tax-related software to prepare and process returns

Prepare responses to inquiries from tax authorities

Maintain a good working relationship with clients and staff at all levels to gather information and provide tax services

Work closely with managers and partners to promptly resolve client matters or tax issues encountered in preparation process

Gain understanding of client operations, processes, and business objectives, and utilize that knowledge on engagements

Attend professional development and training sessions on a regular basis

Maintain awareness of industry trends and governmental regulations

Assume responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.

Travel may be required

Adhere to the highest degree of professional standards and strict client confidentiality

Preferred Skills / Experience

Bachelors degree in Accounting or related degree

A minimum of one year current or recent sales/use tax experience

Strong technical skills including the ability to effectively utilize technology

Excellent analytical ability

Exceptional attention to detail

Proven ability to meet multiple challenging client requirements and provide services with effective time management

Possess strong verbal and written communication skills

Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word and Excel required)

Experience with Avalara and Vertex preferred but not required

Strict adherence to professional ethics

Ability to successfully contribute to the success of a strategic business unit of the firm
