Job Description - Explosive Research Chemist

Who will I be working with? You will be working alongside the military, government employees, other Government contractors, and with our team of other awesome Inflowees.  



What level Clearance do I need? You must possess or be eligible to obtain an active Secret clearance.

Who will I be working with? In support of Inflow's contract with the Government, you will be working alongside Government civilians and other Government contractors and chemists. 



What will I be doing?  Using your technical expertise in chemistry, you will:



  • Support Small Scale Sensitivity Testing (SSST) of energetic materials

  • Support the Analytical Instrumentation Laboratory in the areas of explosive research, testing, and data analysis

  • Keep abreast of the latest research in energetic materials through literature reviews and technical conferences

  • Utilize Analytical Laboratory equipment: LC/GC Chromatography, FTIR, Particle size analysis, DSC, TGA, Bomb Calorimetry, SEM/EDAX, X-Ray diffraction

  • Support quarterly preventative maintenance

  • Support current year updates on needs for equipment and supplies

  • Assist with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), policy reviews, and other document updates

  • Aid in the development of laboratory and test range instrumentation and equipment specifications

  • Make technical recommendations of laboratory and test range instrumentation and equipment as to which products best satisfy the technical needs of the Government

  • Ensure that user-level preventative maintenance is performed on all instruments and equipment and properly recorded; ensuring that such maintenance does not invalidate data collection and processing, a manufacturer's warranty, or other agreement

  • Ensure that all instrumentation and equipment is accounted for, calibrated to the appropriate specifications, serviceable, and available for use to support operations

  • Maintain and update list of trained personnel and ensure that only properly trained personnel operate instrumentation and equipment

  • Other duties as assigned



What experience, training, and education do I need?


You must meet the minimum requirements:



  • 3+ years of technical experience in Chemistry/Physics

  • Experience supporting Small Scale Sensitivity Testing (SSST) operations

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited University or College or equivalent experience in a technically related field

  • Active Secret clearance or be eligible to obtain Secret clearance
