TITLE: Extended Time (ET) Camp Counselor

SUMMARY
The Extended Time Camp Counselor assists in delivering quality summer camp programming under the direction of the Extended Time Site Supervisor. This position includes direct interaction with children, aiding in activity planning and execution, and maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience:
• Must be at least 15 years old with work permit.
• Some experience working with children, preferred.
Certifications:
• CPR/AED certification, preferred.
Skills and Competencies:
• Ability to support children’s physical, intellectual, emotional, and social development.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated responsibility, initiative, and decision-making ability.
• Ability to multitask and follow through on tasks.
• Excellent internal and external customer service.
Other Requirements:
• Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Assist the Site Supervisor in preparing and organizing supplies and equipment for daily activities.
• Greet participants and assist them in transitioning into activities.
• Actively engage in and facilitate activities with participants.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of supplies, equipment, and the Extended Time room.
• Set up and clean tables for snacks; assist in snack preparation and service as required.
• Prioritize participant safety and document any accidents or incidents.
• Communicate effectively with parents, referring concerns to the Site Supervisor or Recreation Supervisor.
• Perform site safety inspections and report hazards as needed.
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS
• Attend the required orientations, staff training sessions, and meetings as scheduled.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
• Ability to lift, support, or restrain participants as necessary.
• Perform manual labor involving varying degrees of exertion.
• Frequently walk, sit, talk, and hear; handle or operate tools and equipment; and reach with hands and arms.
• Occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Lift and handle materials weighing up to 50 pounds independently and over 50 pounds with assistance.
• Possess vision capabilities required for close, distance, color, and depth perception.
WORKING CONDITIONS
• Work effectively in unfavorable conditions, under deadlines, and while managing complaints.
• Maintain professionalism and communicate effectively with staff, customers, and the community.
• Exposure to controlled indoor environments and varying outdoor weather conditions.
• Occasionally encounter elevated noise levels, allergens, and repetitive tasks.
• Adapt to environments with large crowds and public venues.
