Job Title: Fabrication Shop Plumber

Reports To: Fabrication Shop Manager

Position Overview:

The Fabrication Shop Plumber is responsible for constructing, assembling, and performing plumbing fabrication tasks as directed by the Fabrication Shop Manager. This role requires exceptional skill, attention to detail, and a commitment to producing high-quality work in a timely and efficient manner, ensuring compliance with the standards set by Midwestern Mechanical.

Key Responsibilities:

• Adhere to Midwestern Mechanical’s safety, conduct, and quality policies.


• Ensure fabrication tasks are completed on schedule and to the highest quality standards.


• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workspace.


• Coordinate with warehouse personnel to manage equipment use and material handling, ensuring optimal use of raw materials.


• Foster positive relationships with shop, office, and field staff.


• Assist with off-site field work as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Strong communication skills and ability to work well with others.


• Detail-oriented with excellent technical and layout skills.


• Capable of working independently with motivation and discipline.


• Effective forward-planning and time management skills.


• Maintain a high standard of housekeeping and organization.


• Team-oriented with a sense of responsibility.


• Ability to train and mentor others as required.


• Excellent customer service skills.


• Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Outlook.

Education & Experience:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.


• Completion of a 3rd or 4th Year Apprentice program, or Journeyman certification.

Physical Requirements:

• Strong hand and arm strength with fine motor skills, capable of gripping and holding objects.


• Ability to use power tools, including those requiring overhead operation.


• Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 25 lbs regularly and up to 75 lbs occasionally.


• Comfort with climbing ladders, scaffolding, and working in various body positions (kneeling, crouching, reaching, etc.).


• Able to perform repetitive motion tasks and work in noisy, dusty, and potentially hazardous environments.


• Capable of working in extreme temperature conditions (both hot and cold), and able to use equipment like scissor lifts when needed.


• Ability to work on new construction sites, navigating uneven surfaces, floor openings, debris, and varying light conditions.
