Job Description - Fabrication Specialist

Do you like working with your hands, learning how things are made, and turning ideas into real, tangible products? Are you excited by technology, machinery, and the idea of mastering equipment that most people never get to touch?

This is a hands-on fabrication role for someone who’s eager to learn a new industry, work with cutting-edge CNC and laser equipment, and grow into a highly skilled technical specialist.

At S&L Integrated, we’re adding in-house fabrication capabilities—and we’re looking for someone curious, motivated, and detail-oriented to grow with us.

What You’ll Do

As a Fabrication Specialist, you’ll help transform raw materials and digital designs into precision components used in real-world projects. You’ll work closely with our design, operations, and project teams to explore what’s possible with our equipment and continuously improve how we build things.

You’ll:

  • Set up, calibrate, and operate CNC fabrication and welding equipment

  • Turn digital design files into finished metal and wood components such as metal brackets, panels, wood podiums, etc.

  • Experiment with materials like aluminum, stainless steel, aluminum, and wood

  • Help identify parts and products we can fabricate in-house to save time and money

  • Run prototype and production jobs while maintaining quality and accuracy

  • Develop standard processes, safety practices, and maintenance routines

  • Collaborate with teammates to integrate fabricated parts into active projects

  • Become the go-to resource for fabrication knowledge within the company

This role blends technology, craftsmanship, problem-solving, and creativity—and no two days look exactly the same.

Who This Role Is Perfect For

You might be a great fit if you:

  • Enjoy hands-on work and figuring out how machines and systems operate

  • Have exposure to CNC, laser cutting, welding, 3D printing, or shop tools (through school, work, or personal projects)

  • Like precision, problem-solving, and seeing the physical results of your work

  • Are self-motivated, reliable, and comfortable learning by doing

  • Want a role with long-term growth, not just a job

Skills & Experience

What Helps You Succeed:

  • 1+ years' experience or education related to CNC, fabrication, and machining with different types of materials, tolerances, finishing processes and inspection tools

  • Familiarity with CAD/CAM design software like LightBurn, Fusion 360, AutoCAD, or similar

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail

  • Willingness to follow safety procedures and implement best practices

  • Ability to read drawings or learn to interpret technical designs

  • Self-motivated and love working in a figure-it-out-as-you-go environment

Bonus (not required):

  • Laser, TIG, or MIG welding exposure

  • Experience with custom metal or wood fabrication

  • Prototyping or AV/technology hardware experience

What is the work environment like?

This position requires the ability to regularly stand, walk, bend, stoop, use hands and fingers, reach and push with hands and arms.   Work requires the ability to lift and move objects weighing up to fifty (50) pounds on a daily basis.  Will periodically work in non-climate-controlled environments.

The best way to describe the team is that we have an "entrepreneurial" spirit. We love challenges, embrace change, are self-motivated and will quickly pivot to help where needed. This position does require reporting daily to our Thomasville, GA office.

Additional Information:

We offer a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, along with a 401k with company match.

All applicants must consent to a background check and a drug screen to continue in the selection process. All employment offers are contingent on meeting our background check standards and successful passing of required drug test. If hired, you will be required to provide documentation indicating your legal right to work in the U.S.
