Fabrication Tech - Welder, 1st Shift

Eaton\u2019s ES AMER ARS division is currently seeking a Fabrication Tech - Welder, 1st Shift at our Hodges, SC facility.\n\nThe rate for this position is $22.83 per hour. The core hours are Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 3:30 pm.\n\nThis position is also eligible for a variable incentive program.\n\nPlease note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. \n\n## What you\u2019ll do:\n\nThe Welder will set up and perform metal joining and cutting operations on ferrous and nonferrous materials (steel, stainless steel, aluminum, galvanized steel, and cast metals) using welding and brazing equipment, robotic welders, and the housing saw, with or without fixtures.\n\n * Follow all environmental, health, and safety guidelines and maintain 5S+ standards.\n * Review work assignments and manufacturing information (sketches, drawings, written and verbal instructions) and enter required data into the system.\n * Perform welding operations using appropriate machine settings, consumables, and gas selections; weld and assemble parts with or without fixtures.\n * Measure, align, and verify material dimensions using calipers, gauges, and other precision tools to .001 accuracy.\n * Fabricate and design fixtures to support welding processes; weld, grind, and finish parts to ensure quality standards.\n * Perform routine equipment maintenance, including oiling and clamp adjustments, and complete required statistical process control checks.\n * Handle materials safely, including lifting up to 50 lbs, pushing/pulling up to 100 lbs with or without accommodation, and operating material\u2011handling equipment for heavy loads.\n * Understand and follow all material safety data sheets for materials used.\n * Support additional fabrication areas as needed (braze weld, robot weld, housing weld, Geka shear, coil machine, housing saw, accessory bend, press brake, downdraft, masking, housing punch).\n\n\n\n## Qualifications:\n\nRequired (Basic) Qualifications: \n\n * High school diploma or GED.\n * AWS Certification.\n * Eaton will not consider applicants for employment immigration sponsorship or support for this position. Active Duty military members are exempt from this requirement.\n\n\n\n\n \nPreferred qualifications:\n\n * Industrial manufacturing experience\n * Experience operating a powered industrial vehicle (e.g., forklift)\n * Experience using hand and air tools\n * Prior welding experience in a work setting\n * South Carolina Manufacturing Certification (SCMC) or equivalent\n\n\n\n## Position Criteria:\n\n * Proven problem-solving skills. \n * Effective oral and written communication skills as well as planning and organizational skills. \n * Ability to manage by influence through solid relationships and process focus.\n * Fine motor skills for tasks such as typing and operating controls.\n\n\n\nWe are committed to ensuring equal employment opportunities for all job applicants and employees.
