Fabrication Technician

Position Overview
BMarko Structures is seeking a skilled Fabrication Technician – Working Lead to guide and support the daily operations of our fabrication department within a modular construction environment. This role is primarily hands-on, with responsibilities that include operating and programming CNC metal folding and laser equipment, staging materials, training team members, and executing the production schedule. The Working Lead will act as the go-to person for the department, ensuring that production runs smoothly while actively participating in fabrication tasks.

Key Responsibilities

• Work hands-on in the shop, performing fabrication tasks including setup, minor programming, and operation of CNC metal folding and laser machines.
• Lead by example on the floor, demonstrating proper techniques, safe practices, and efficient workflows.
• Ensure materials and supplies are received, staged, and ready to support daily production.
• Train, mentor, and support fabrication team members to improve skill levels and maintain high-quality output.
• Execute the production schedule, coordinating with supervisors, engineering, and quality teams to meet deadlines.
• Serve as the point person for the fabrication department, communicating updates, issues, and needs to management.
• Monitor equipment performance, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate with maintenance as needed.
• Promote and enforce safety protocols and company policies within the department.
• Maintain accurate records of material usage and production output.
• Support continuous improvement efforts to increase efficiency and reduce downtime.

Knowledge and Expertise

• Strong understanding of metal fabrication processes and equipment.
• Proficiency with CNC machine operation and basic programming (preferably press brake/metal folding and lasers).
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and technical specifications.
• Knowledge of material handling, staging, and inventory practices.
• Familiarity with shop safety standards and OSHA requirements.
• Hands-on leadership skills with the ability to coach and guide team members effectively.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training in metal fabrication preferred.
• 3+ years of fabrication experience, with some leadership or team lead responsibilities strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated experience with CNC equipment, especially folding/press brake and laser operations.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities in a shop environment.
• Effective communication and organizational skills.
