Fabrication Welder

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Fabrication Welder for a direct-hire opportunity in Waterloo, Iowa. This is a hands-on manufacturing position responsible for welding and fabricating large and small weldments while working from blueprints and production requirements.

The ideal candidate has at least 2 years of welding experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment and is comfortable laying out parts, fabricating assemblies, taking accurate measurements, and producing quality welds to print specifications.

Key Responsibilities

• Weld and fabricate large and small weldments according to blueprint requirements.
• Read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, dimensions, and specifications.
• Lay out, fit, and fabricate parts and assemblies as required.
• Measure components accurately using tape measures, squares, angle squares, calipers, and other measuring tools.
• Perform grinding, fitting, material preparation, and other fabrication-related work.
• Use hand tools, air tools, handheld grinders, and other shop equipment.
• Safely handle and position steel and fabricated components using overhead cranes and material-handling equipment.
• Inspect work for dimensional accuracy and overall quality.
• Complete assigned work within established production schedules.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Follow all company safety, quality, and production procedures.

Required Qualifications

• 2+ years of welding experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
• Strong hands-on fabrication welding experience.
• Ability to read and work from blueprints.
• Ability to lay out, fit, and fabricate components from prints.
• Proficiency with fractions, decimals, and shop mathematics.
• Ability to accurately use tape measures, squares, angle squares, calipers, and related measuring tools.
• Experience using grinders, air tools, hand tools, and other common fabrication equipment.
• Comfortable working around overhead cranes and steel-handling operations.
• Ability to pass a weld test.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding fabrication work.
• Ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs. and occasionally lift up to 75 lbs.
• Must be able to work first shift onsite in Waterloo, Iowa.
• Local candidates only.
