FACILITATOR/COUNSELOR

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Facilitator/Counselor to join our dynamic team. The Facilitator/Counselor at Maze of Life Resource Center plays a crucial role in supporting individuals facing personal challenges, particularly in the areas of substance abuse and partner abuse.

This position involves conducting individual and group counseling sessions, developing tailored treatment plans, and implementing programs aimed at promoting healing and recovery. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively build rapport with clients from diverse backgrounds. This role requires a commitment to ethical practice and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams, all aimed at empowering clients to navigate their life journeys effectively.

REQUIREMENTS

• Degree in Counseling, Social Work, or a related field from an accredited institution.
• Valid LPC and/or LCDC licensure in the state of Illinois.
• Certification as a Substance Abuse Professional (SAP).
• Experience in domestic violence and substance abuse counselling preferred.
• Training in the Partner Abuse Intervention Program (PAIP) preferred.
• Minimum of two (2) years of direct counseling or facilitation experience in a mental health or substance abuse setting.
• Provide crisis intervention and support, utilizing de-escalation techniques and appropriate referral resources as needed.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and create a supportive, non-judgmental environment.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and handle challenging situations with professionalism and grace.
• Passion for helping individuals and families heal and thrive.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide individual and group counseling sessions to clients dealing with substance abuse, relationship issues, and personal challenges.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate personalized treatment plans that address the unique needs of each client.
• Conduct assessments, develop treatment plans, and monitor client progress to ensure effective intervention and support.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care and resources tailored to each client’s needs.
• Maintain accurate and confidential documentation of client interactions, treatment plans, and progress notes in accordance with organizational policies and legal guidelines.
• Engage in ongoing professional development to stay updated on best practices, treatment modalities, and emerging trends in the field of counseling and substance abuse recovery.
• Educate clients and their families about domestic violence, its impact, and available resources for support and recovery.
