Job Description - Facilities & Equipment Technician



Full-time


Description

The Facilities & Equipment Technician’s primary objectives are to oversee the manufacturing equipment maintenance, schedule and perform preventative maintenance (PM), reacting to and solving equipment maintenance emergencies, performing calibrations when and where appropriate, recommend equipment replacements and/or upgrades, and ensure all work adheres to facility and radiation safety standards, as well cleanliness standards. The Facilities & Equipment Technician must also document and maintain all appropriate equipment records and files (both electronic and paper). 

Job Duties/Responsibilities 

  • Maintain adherence of the PM schedule. 
  • Effectively coordinate work with stakeholders to efficiently solve equipment maintenance emergencies. 
  • Perform calibrations, (when required), and assist with validations on equipment processes (as needed). 
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to determine overall equipment needs for repairs or upgrades and provides recommendations for purchases of new equipment. 
  • Track time and expenses for PM’s, repairs, and stock parts for equipment readiness. 
  • Present monthly report for time and expense, as well as the current value of stocked parts for equipment repair. 
  • Participate with 5S initiatives and with Safety Committee initiatives where equipment is concerned. 
  • Consider the current calibration and validation status of all equipment, when possible or appropriate, and communicate a potential change to that status to stakeholders before performing work on equipment. 
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to execute facilities improvements 
  • Propose and execute various facilities improvements including identifying and purchasing new facilities items, making and/or coordinating cosmetic facilities improvements, and working with vendors accordingly 
  • Collaborate with various departments when required. 
  • Prepare documentation, as required for our Quality Management System (QMS), or as required by the applicable regulatory bodies governing our organization. 
  • Coordinate parts needed and/or purchase orders needed with management to complete work required in this role. 
  • Embodies the Company’s purpose and shared values, building a positive and productive team culture. 
  • Comply with Company policies and procedures. 
  • Authorized to access employee and/or patient PHI and ePHI only as needed for job-related functions. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.  
  • Vocational school or training in equipment/mechanical repair could be an equivalent for applicable work experience.  
  • Experience with computer-controlled equipment, and /or programmable logic control systems.  
  • Experience in automation preferred.  
  • Understanding of or experience in a nuclear environment.  
  • Previous work experience as an equipment technician, or equipment servicing provider in a regulated environment preferred. 
  • Experience with equipment within GT can be an equivalent to previous work experience. 
  • Mechanically inclined – general machine operation, ability to use appropriate tools, and adept at repairs. 
  • Basic understanding or ability to quickly learn the equipment and facilities to be maintained. 
  • Ability to maintain basic records and warranties. 
  • Ability to understand written directions in manuals and on manufacturer websites.  
  • Ability to read and interpret prints, (CAD drawings), manufacturing manuals, or schematics. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Proficient in using Microsoft office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). 
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule.  
  • Able to travel for work as needed. 
  • Satisfactorily pass comprehensive background screening.  
  • Satisfactorily pass drug screening (if applicable to position). 

Physical Demands/Working Conditions 

  • Works in office space, supply room, laboratory, and/or clean room environments. 
  • Frequent exposure to hazardous materials requiring appropriate PPE and precautions when working with hazardous materials and chemicals. 
  • Requires frequent finite hand/eye coordination. 
  • Largely a stationary role with some moving from place to place. 
  • Frequent use of a computer, keyboard, mouse, monitor and other office equipment. 
  • Frequent use of laboratory and manufacturing equipment. 
  • Frequently picks up, carries, and moves items up to 50 lbs. 
  • Some evening and weekend work depending upon workload. 
  • Some overnight travel may be required for work, events, and trainings.
