Job Description - Facilities and Fleet Manager

Description

 From spotless buildings to manicured lawns and walking trails, maintaining world-class facilities is as important to Camp Timber-lee as providing quality programs and great service. Join a Facilities team that helps manage over 100 buildings on a property of over 600 acres. This position oversees personnel and equipment with an effort to enhance the camp experience for multiple constituents. 

Leadership & Training

  • Supervise the Facility Ministry Staff and various Facility Volunteers.
  • Analyze priorities and expedite projects as time and materials permit 
  • Delegate and manage the flow of materials to work crews, whether staff, volunteers, or purchased services.
  • Comply with and enforce camp safety policies and procedures.
  • Conduct weekly staff meetings with the Facilities Department, at least twice a week.
  • Conduct annual staff evaluations.
  • Attend weekly meeting with the Facilities Director.

Equipment & Maintenance

  • Maintain accurate as well as up to date maintenance records on buildings, vehicles, and other equipment.
  • Schedule regular, on-going preventative maintenance programs for buildings, building systems, vehicles and grounds.
  • Supervise the purchase and maintenance of all grounds and landscaping tools, equipment, supplies, and services.
  • Formulate and keep updated the mapping of underground services such as gas, telephone, sewer, and electrical lines.
  • Supervise the maintenance of camp vehicles for camp use.
  • Supervise the maintaining and improvement of the camp’s grounds.
  • Ensure that federal, state, and local guidelines are followed related to building codes, septic systems, and wells.

  • Understand and exhibit behaviors and skills needed to function and be accountable in a team environment.
  • Passion for people, learning new things, and a sense of adventure.

Positional 

  • High School diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Facility supervisory, budget and inventory experience.
  • Able to lift 80 pounds and traverse multi-terrain campgrounds in all seasons.
  • Licensed driver able to drive tractors, trucks, mowers. Etc.
  • Experience working with CMMS, landscaping and outside vendors.
  • Some evenings and weekends required.
  • Basic understanding of federal, state, and local guidelines for building and grounds of camps (or willingness to learn)
  • Able to climb ladders and crawl under buildings.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
