Location: Wichita, KS Organization: Catholic Charities Wichita Type: Full-Time Work Arrangements: In-Person Work Schedule: Mon–Fri | 7 am – 4 pm
The Facilities Assistant supports daily facility operations by performing routine maintenance, repairs, and custodial tasks to ensure a safe, clean, and functional environment. This role works closely with the Facilities Manager to respond to work orders, assist with preventative maintenance, and support organizational events and facility needs.
What You Will Be Doing
Maintenance & Repairs
Perform general maintenance tasks including basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and HVAC support.
Landscaping, snow removal, other projects as needed.
Assist with troubleshooting equipment malfunctions.
Report issues requiring advanced repair.
Replace light bulbs, filters, batteries, and perform other routine building upkeep tasks.
Facility Operations
Conduct regular inspections of grounds, buildings, and equipment to identify and address potential issues.
Support setup and breakdown for meetings, events, and organizational activities.
Monitor building systems and notify leadership of irregularities or safety concerns.
Custodial Support
Assist with cleaning, trash removal, and overall facility tidiness as needed.
Maintain inventory of cleaning and maintenance supplies.
Safety & Compliance
Follow safety procedures and use proper protective equipment.
Help ensure compliance with building codes, organizational policies, and safety standards.
Respond to emergencies such as spills, alarms, or urgent repairs.
Administrative & Support Duties
Complete work orders and logs in a timely manner.
Assist vendors, inspectors, or contractors when onsite.
Assist with donation pick up, food delivery and other program-related needs
Supervise facilities volunteers.
Your Superpowers
High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience in facilities, maintenance, custodial work, or a related field.
Basic knowledge of building systems (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry).
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical labor.
Strong attention to detail and reliability.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
What You Need to Bring to the Table
Certifications in maintenance, HVAC, electrical, or related areas.
Experience with facility management systems or maintenance logging software.
Valid driver’s license.
The Rhythm of the Role
Combination of indoor and outdoor work.
Requires occasional evening, weekend, and on-call hours.
Exposure to cleaning chemicals, noise, and varying temperatures.
