Eaton\u2019s ES GEIS division is currently seeking a Facilities Engineer. This role is onsite at either our Highland, IL or Troy, IL facilities. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. \n\n## PRIMARY FUNCTION:\n\nThe Facilities Engineer is responsible for the safe, reliable, and cost\u2011effective operation of site utilities and infrastructure while serving as the single point of accountability for equipment transfers\u2014including inbound installation/startup, intra\u2011site moves, and outbound decommissioning and disposition. This role plans and executes facility projects, manages vendors, ensures regulatory and EHS compliance, optimizes preventive maintenance programs, and leads cross\u2011functional logistics for equipment moves (e.g., rigging, crating, shipping, labeling, documentation, validation/qualification, and change control). The incumbent will work closely with Operations, EHS, Quality/Validation, IT/OT, Security, Supply Chain/Logistics, Finance, and external contractors to minimize downtime, mitigate risk, and ensure compliant, well\u2011documented transfers and reliable facility operations.\n\n## What you\u2019ll do:\n\nESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: \n\nFacilities Engineering \u0026 Site Operations \n\u2022 Own the performance and integrity of building systems: HVAC, electrical distribution, UPS/generators, compressed air/vacuum, process gases, chilled/hot water, plumbing, fire/life safety, building controls (BMS) including I4.0 Digitization and connectivity, access/security, and general infrastructure \n\u2022 Develop and optimize preventive and predictive maintenance strategies; administer the CMMS (asset hierarchy, PM schedules, work orders, spare parts, and failure codes). \n\u2022 Troubleshoot complex system issues; lead root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA). \n\u2022 Plan and execute facility upgrades and small to mid\u2011scale construction projects: scope, cost estimates, schedules, risk/impact assessments, and commissioning. \n\u2022 Manage external service providers (MSAs, SOWs), ensuring quality, safety, and on\u2011time delivery. \n\u2022 Maintain accurate as\u2011built drawings, P\u0026IDs, single\u2011line diagrams, lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures, and equipment documentation.\n\nEquipment Transfer, Relocation, and Disposition (Inbound, Intra\u2011site, Outbound) \n\u2022 Serve as Transfer Lead for all equipment moves into/from/within the site (production, lab, R\u0026D, utilities, IT/OT hardware, specialized assets). \n\u2022 Create and run transfer playbooks and checklists: site readiness, power/utility validation, floor loading and anchorage, vibration/isolation, environmental controls, cleanroom considerations, safety zones, and traffic flow. \n\u2022 Coordinate rigging, crating, packing, and shipping with qualified vendors; ensure proper lifting plans, protection, labeling, and insurance. \n\u2022 Manage technical decommissioning: equipment shutdown procedures, zero\u2011energy verification, decontamination/cleaning, hazardous material purging, residual waste handling, data sanitization (for smart/connected assets), and release for transport/scrap. \n\u2022 Oversee import/export compliance and documentation (e.g., commercial invoices, HS codes, ITAR/EAR where applicable), chain\u2011of\u2011custody, and traceability. \n\u2022 Lead commissioning/qualification upon arrival (FAT/SAT coordination, installation verification, utilities hookup, alignment/calibration, functional testing, OQ/PQ support where required). \n\u2022 Ensure change control and configuration management for equipment moves (asset tags, serial numbers, software/firmware baselines, revision control, integration into CMMS, updates to location registers and floor plans). \n\u2022 Partner with EHS, Quality, and Security to meet regulatory, safety, and GMP/GLP/ISO considerations (as applicable). \n\u2022 Drive risk assessments (JHAs, lifting plans, MOC), contingency planning, and readiness reviews to protect personnel, product, property, and schedule.\n\nEHS, Compliance \u0026 Standards \n\u2022 Ensure adherence to OSHA and applicable NFPA, NEC, ASHRAE, local building/fire codes, environmental permits, and company standards. \n\u2022 Own and continuously improve LSR, LOTO, confined space, hot work, contractor control, and permit\u2011to\u2011work processes. \n\u2022 Support permit requirements, contractor safety compliance, and pre\u2011task risk assessments. \n\u2022 Verify readiness for operational handoff through inspections, checklists, and completion documentation. \n\u2022 Maintain strong 5S+, housekeeping and audit readiness; respond to inspections and implement action plans.\n\n## Additional Information:\n\nProject \u0026 Financial Management \n\u2022 Build business cases, budgets, and schedules; manage CAPEX/OPEX for facilities and transfer projects. \n\u2022 Track and report progress, risks, and mitigations; maintain documentation, closeouts, and lessons learned. \n\u2022 Identify cost\u2011saving opportunities through energy efficiency, condition\u2011based maintenance, and lifecycle planning.\n\nStakeholder \u0026 Vendor Management \n\u2022 Coordinate across Operations, Quality/Validation, EHS, IT/OT, Security, Supply Chain, and Finance. \n\u2022 Select and manage qualified vendors for maintenance, rigging, transport, calibration, and commissioning; negotiate scope and hold vendors accountable to SLAs and safety standards. \n\u2022 Communicate clearly to all levels (operators to executives) with concise status updates and dashboards.\n\nSite \u0026 Site Exit Support \n\u2022 Support new site build\u2011out and start\u2011up activities, including facilities readiness, equipment installation, and operational handoff. \n\u2022 Ensure closure and start\u2011up activities comply with EHS, Security, regulatory, and corporate standards. \n\u2022 Coordinate with Security and necessary contractors to secure presmises and assets. \n\nCross\u2011Functional Coordination \n\u2022 Coordinate day\u2011to\u2011day execution across Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, Supply Chain, IT, Quality, EHS, Finance, HR, and external contractors. \n\u2022 Manage dependencies and resolve execution issues through collaboration and escalation as needed. \n\u2022 Participate in regular project and program reviews, providing accurate status updates and risk assessments.\n\nCommunication \u0026 Reporting \n\u2022 Provide clear and timely project status reports, including schedule updates, cost performance, risks, and issues. \n\u2022 Communicate effectively with plant leadership and functional stakeholders to align execution activities. \n\u2022 Support stakeholder change communications related to project execution and operational transitions.\n\n## Qualifications:\n\nBasic (Required) Qualifications:\n\n * Bachelor\u2019s in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Facilities Engineering, or in lieu of a degree, a minimum of ten (10) years of equivalent military/technical experience.\n * Minimum of three (3) years of facilities engineering or plant engineering with progressive levels of accountability and responsibility in Manufacturing, Operations, Continuous Improvement, and/or Manufacturing Engineering.\n * Eaton will not consider applicants for employment immigration sponsorship or support for this position. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.\n\n\n\nPreferred Qualifications:\n\n * Demonstrated success leading equipment relocations (decommissioning, rigging, commissioning) and cross\u2011functional technical projects.\n * Knowledge of machining processes, CNC equipment, casting methods, metallurgy, and foundry operations.\n * Ability to develop and manage capital expenditure (CapEx) projects.\n * Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical power systems, utilities, and BMS/SCADA.\n * Proficiency with drawings and diagrams (AutoCAD/Bluebeam a plus); ability to read P\u0026IDs and single\u2011line diagrams.\n * Familiarity with EHS and code requirements (OSHA, NEC, NFPA/NEC, ASHRAE, local codes); understanding of hazardous energy control and contractor safety.\n * Experience with rigging, crating, and logistics coordination; knowledge of import/export basics and chain\u2011of\u2011custody expectations.\n\n\n\nAll positions may require participation in video and in-person interviews as part of the hiring process.
