Facilities Maintenance and Operations Technician

Job Summary 

Under direct supervision from Cornerstone Chapel’s Director of Facilities and day-to-day direction from the Cornerstone Christian Academy (CCA) Head of School, the Maintenance and Operations Technician provides maintenance, repair and improvement of Cornerstone Chapel and CCA’s facilities, grounds, structures equipment, vehicles, and utilities and supports daily school operations. The Maintenance and Operations Technician will demonstrate the fruit of the Spirit in all interactions with students, staff, faculty, parents and visitors of CCA and Cornerstone Chapel.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

• Graduation from High school or General Education Development (GED) Certificate

Experience 

• 10+ years of relevant work experience in a commercial property setting

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Competent knowledge of school operations, including maintenance practices/procedures of facility equipment and building systems


• Strong organizational and analytical skills


• Able to follow instructions and work both collaboratively and independently


• Strong communicator with excellent verbal and written skills


• Critical thinker who is able to solve problems


• Able to multi-task


• Able to manage high priority/stress projects/incidents


• Strong customer service orientation

Technologies

• Basic skills with Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, and Excel

Physical Capabilities

• Able to walk and stand for prolonged periods


• Able to work both indoors and outdoors in a range of temperatures typical for Virginia


• Able to perform occasional seated desk work at a computer


• Able to crouch, kneel, climb and move / lift up to 50lbs

Work Hours / Travel

• Local travel between Cornerstone Chapel and CCA required

• Willing and able to respond to after-hours issues on CCA and Cornerstone Chapel properties

• Establish communication with school and church operations personnel for reliable support


• Performs repairs and maintenance of building systems and equipment


• Able to use good judgment in making recommendations for improvements


• Skilled in how to respond to emergency situations


• Prepare facility for daily operations


• Support operation and events requirements


• Clean and maintain equipment and facility


• Execute maintenance and repair tasks of all building systems


• Manage supplies inventory


• Interface with contractors and vendors


• Supports routine system testing and validation


• Evaluate and monitor areas in need of attention
