JOB SUMMARY: Under the general direction and supervision of the Facilities Director, this position provides maintenance-related services for the Kaibab Paiute Band of Indians. This includes assisting in the planning, implementation, and daily operations of Tribal facilities maintenance programs. The Facilities Maintenance Assistant helps maintain safe, functional, and compliant Tribal buildings, grounds, and equipment.
DEPARTMENT: Facilities Department SUPERVISOR: Facilities Director OPEN APPLICATIONS DUE: Open until filled STATUS: Full-Time / Benefits after 90 days SALARY: $18.00–$22.73 per hour D.O.E.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Establish and maintain a positive working relationship with Tribal membership and staff.
Assist in the daily maintenance and upkeep of Tribal buildings, facilities, and grounds.
Participate in the evaluation and recommendation of maintenance procedures, practices, and safety protocols.
Assist in developing alternative strategies to address and resolve maintenance issues.
Provide input and solutions for situations affecting day-to-day operations.
Maintain a professional and consistent working environment.
Perform other job-related duties to support facility and agency operations.
Be available for on-call duties as needed for emergencies, evenings, and weekends.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge and experience in electrical, plumbing, drywall, painting, framing, roofing, and other building maintenance tasks.
Knowledge of pumps, pressures, and water system treatments.
Experience keeping equipment, supplies, and vehicles organized and protected.
Positive attitude and willingness to work with people and solve problems on the fly.
Ability to read blueprints and make facility-related drawings as needed.
Ability to operate all kinds of hand tools and light equipment.
Ability to maintain a working inventory of maintenance supplies.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or GED.
Experience in facilities maintenance or related skilled trades.
Must pass a fingerprint/criminal background check and pre-employment drug testing.
Must have a valid driver’s license with a good driving record and be insurable.
