Purpose of Position
The Facilities Maintenance Engineer is responsible for ensuring the proper operation, maintenance, and repair of building systems, equipment, and infrastructure. The work may require hands-on experience in electrical and plumbing, as well as strong organizational skills for managing work order administration.
Responsibilities and Duties
Performs routine daily work projects and/or repairs on KICA infrastructure to include electrical and plumbing work.
Ensure infrastructure is operational and maintained in a safe condition.
Notifies department leadership of any problems with KICA infrastructure which need to be addressed.
Assists with general repairs, maintenance tasks and other projects as needed.
Ensure quality workmanship in keeping with KICA and ARB standards, in order to maintain the excellence of the Kiawah brand.
Work Order Administration:
Receive, prioritize, and complete maintenance work orders in a timely manner.
Document repairs, preventive maintenance activities, and part usage.
Coordinate with other departments to schedule maintenance with minimal disruption.
Establish and maintain records of maintenance tasks and update the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
Electrical Maintenance:
Perform routine inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs of electrical systems.
Replace or repair faulty wiring, lighting fixtures, switches, and outlets.
Assist in the installation of new electrical systems and ensure compliance with electrical codes.
Plumbing:
Diagnose and repair plumbing issues including leaks, clogs, and faulty fixtures.
Install and maintain piping systems, faucets, toilets, water heaters, and other plumbing-related fixtures.
Conduct preventive maintenance to ensure plumbing systems are in good working order.
Follow all company policies and procedures to the Kiawah Standards.
Work efficiently in order to reduce costs.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Qualifications and Abilities
High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or associate degree in a related field preferred.
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar maintenance role.
Knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry.
Familiarity with safety protocols, tools, and equipment used in building maintenance.
Proficient in using CMMS or other work order tracking systems.
Ability to read blueprints and technical diagrams.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Good time management and ability to prioritize tasks.
Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods standing, walking, stretching, bending, kneeling, and pulling.
Must be comfortable working on ladders up to 10 feet.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
Must be physically able to operate power equipment.
Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions.
Other requirements:
Pass a pre-employment drug screen, criminal background check, and driving record check.
Maintain a valid South Carolina Driver’s License
