To perform routine and extensive range of work in the repair and general maintenance of facilities, buildings, and equipment under general supervision. Will execute work within established procedures and processes.
Responsibilities:
Perform repair or general maintenance work of facilities, buildings, grounds, and equipment at various sites including electrical, carpentry, plumbing, and painting tasks.
Responsible for all set-ups and tear-downs for ministry meetings, events, etc. (Calendar of events will dictate this schedule) (also part of Custodians job)
Snow removal: available to plow lots/sidewalks as needed, apply ice melt and shovel walks and stairs as needed on an on-call basis - public sidewalk needs to be cleared 4 hours after snow stops.
Report mechanical malfunctions to Facilities Manager
Moving and assisting in transportation of furniture and equipment. - (Schedule will come from Facilities Manager depending upon requests)
Performs monthly check of emergency lights throughout the worship center building – To be done the 1st of every month
Blow out building fire sprinklers – To be done the 1st of every month
Checking and replacing burnt out light bulbs - interior and exterior
Servicing kitchen: keep appliances in good working order, replacing filters as needed. (ice machine cleaned every 3 months, filters changed every 6 months)
Service emergency equipment (i.e. AED units)
Monitor building climate and unit functions
Checking and replacing furnace and A/C unit filters on a monthly basis
Maintain and service all church vehicles, keep track of service needs, condition of vehicles (wipers, lights etc...)
Straighten auditorium chairs – weekly, between weekend services, special events (this could be several times per week depending on the events in the Calendar)
Mows lawn, trims, maintains all grass areas – Weekly (minimum – some weeks may require more often)
Maintain and repair lawn and snow equipment.
Repairs/maintains sprinkler system, keeping it functioning properly, spring start up, fall shut down and winterizing system
Keep the grounds looking good and safe at all times
Trim trees, bushes – Fall primarily but keep trimmed all summer long.
Respond to emails, texts and phone calls promptly within 30 minutes
Watch for unauthorized cars in the parking lot
Answer security, fire and elevator alarms
Alarm Coverage: on-call for alarm response
Participates in building coverage on weekend rotation

Position Requirements:
Knowledgeable in areas of building maintenance, grounds keeping, janitorial products, plumbing, HVAC, other building systems, etc.
Strong financial, budgeting, and project management skills.
Keen attention to detail with strong problem-solving abilities.
Proficiency with repair tools and techniques.
Great time management, organization and prioritization.
Ability to prioritize jobs and work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to speak with all levels of staff, volunteers, guests, vendors, and agencies.
Mechanically inclined; able to operate standard maintenance and grounds keeping equipment and tools.
General proficiency with church software: Grace Connect
Training will be provided, as needed.
Physically able to walk, stand, climb stairs, lift up to 40 pounds, and work outdoors for prolonged periods of time.
Available to work weekends and extended hours during the week.
Must agree with and represent Grace Church’s Statement of Faith, mission, and vision.
Staff Requirements:
Be present for all Staff Meetings, unless sick or on vacation.
Typically held 1-2x/month on the same day/time so that you can plan accordingly.
Attend at least one weekend service every week. If you are unable to attend in person, watch online before returning to the office.
This will ensure that you are always aware of the vision and direction of the Lead Pastor and the Leadership Team.
Work “All Staff Required” or “All Staff Serving” services and events.
These usually fall on weekends such as Christmas, Easter, baptism services, and a spiritual campaign launch and/or celebration. While these are the typical services required, there may be more, which will be communicated with ample time to plan ahead.
All Staff Required Weekend – staff must be available to work all services during the weekend.
All Staff Serving Weekend– staff must be available to work at least one service during the weekend.
All Staff Required Event – staff must be available for the entirety of the event.
Volunteer for a ministry outside of your paid staff position.
Just as we ask every member of Grace to serve faithfully while also having a job, we must keep that standard as a staff. You may choose where to volunteer at your leisure and serve alongside your family/friends.
