Position Summary: The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the upkeep, safety, and functionality of our company’s physical spaces. This includes performing preventative maintenance, repairs, and improvements on buildings, equipment, and grounds. This role requires a broad skill set in trades such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, roofing, and HVAC. Additionally, the Facilities Maintenance Technician oversees snow/ice removal, alarm systems, and waste disposal services.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintenance & Repairs
Develop and execute preventive maintenance schedules for all company facilities and equipment.
Monitor and maintain all assigned safety equipment.
Perform or oversee maintenance, repairs, and small construction projects.
Manage and coordinate subcontractors for specialized maintenance and repair work.
Lead snow and ice removal operations to ensure safe access before business hours.
Oversee waste management, including solid waste, recycling, and hazardous materials.
Maintain security systems, alarms, fire suppression, and other monitoring systems.
Janitorial Duties
Implement and follow a regular cleaning schedule to maintain a professional and safe environment.
Clean floors, windows, furniture, and fixtures as needed.
Maintain inventory of cleaning and maintenance supplies.
Service and restock restrooms and employee lunchrooms.
Collect and dispose of trash and recyclables efficiently.
Additional Responsibilities
Adhere to and support company policies and procedures.
Maintain consistent attendance and reliability.
Complete other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or GED required; associate’s degree or higher preferred.
3-5 years of janitorial or facility maintenance experience.
5+ years of maintenance and/or safety experience in a commercial or industrial setting.
Background in industrial facility management is a plus.
Proficiency in multiple trade skills, including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC.
Skills & Competencies:
Strong ability to perform building maintenance, repairs, and preventive care.
Excellent time management and problem-solving skills.
Ability to plan, evaluate, and budget maintenance, renovation, and construction projects.
Adaptability to changing priorities and ability to find effective solutions.
Experience collaborating with multiple departments and subcontractors.
Proficiency in Google Docs or equivalent software.
Strong communication skills in English (both written and verbal).
Valid driver license
Office Environment:
Generally quiet workspace.
Requires sitting, standing, and operating office equipment.
Must be able to work on a computer for extended periods.
Shop & Field Work:
Moderate to high noise levels; hearing protection may be required.
Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs (occasionally up to 100 lbs).
Occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, and reaching above shoulders.
Requires strong visual acuity and ability to adjust focus.
