Facilities Maintenance Technician

Facility Maintenance Job Description 

As a Maintenance Technician for Body Xchange, you will play an important role in ensuring the smooth operation and upkeep of our facility. This position requires an individual with a strong technical competence, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to maintaining and repairing gym equipment, fixtures, and facilities. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: 

Conduct regular inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on gym equipment. Cleaning and maintaining building and mechanical equipment. 

Ensure proper operation of all club areas and equipment. Areas include but are not limited to: Cardio area, Free Weight Room, Group X Room, Locker Rooms, Employee Break Room, Offices, Storage Rooms, Boxing Area and parking lot. 

Troubleshoot and diagnose issues throughout the facility to assess building systems and fitness equipment for proper condition in a timely manner 

Perform repairs and maintenance on facility structures, including doors, windows, and flooring but not limited to drywall, texture, paint, tile & grout 

Address plumbing, electrical, and HVAC issues as needed. 

Conduct routine safety inspections to identify and address potential hazards. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards. 

Keep an organized inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment. 

Coordinate with your supervisor to restock supplies as needed for inventory management.

Work collaboratively with janitorial and other staff to maintain a clean and safe gym environment. 

Assist in new projects; setting up and dismantling equipment 

Complete Monthly, Quarterly and yearly upkeep of the facility. Example: Solar Panels, Air vent, etc.

Will be responsible to keep the maintenance log current and up to date. 

Will be responsible to meet with the club management at the beginning of their shift and then before they leave for the day to communicate any and all equipment issues not resolved on the maintenance log. 

Required/Preferred Qualifications; Knowledge, skills and abilities: 

Previous experience in maintenance, preferably in a gym or fitness center setting. Organization and time management skills. 

Attention to detail 

Be a self starter 

Must maintain suitable transportation 

Strong technical skills with the ability to troubleshoot and repair fitness equipment.  Knowledge of general maintenance tasks, including plumbing, electrical, and HVAC.  Ability to lift and move heavy equipment as needed. 

Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Must have basic hand tools 

Enthusiastic, approachable, and customer-focused 

Minimum certifications/educational level: Must complete CPR/AED training within 30 days of hire 

Schedule 

Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm 

Weekend availability 

Minimum experience: 

1-2 years in maintenance is preferred but not required

Physical Requirements: 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk and stand up to 8 hours/day and/or sitting for an extended period of time. 

The employee may be required to occasionally lift, carry or move up to 25 pounds and may seldom be required to lift, carry or move 26-50 pounds.
