Job Description - Facilities Maintenance Technician

This position provides a variety of general and skilled maintenance duties to ensure that all bank properties meet or exceed established standards. Primary responsibilities include maintaining and repairing mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems, performing preventative maintenance, and responding to maintenance issues promptly. The role also includes routine painting, drywall repair, light to moderate carpentry, and a variety of other maintenance tasks. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, a high attention to detail, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.  

This position will cover central and northern Worcester County.

  • Troubleshoot and repair a variety of HVAC, plumbing and electrical fixtures & components. 
  • HVAC: Conduct in-depth preventative maintenance and troubleshoot control and mechanical issues. Solve problems and inform manager when there is a need to escalate repairs.
  • Electrical: Install new light fixtures, receptacles and various devices. Familiar with NEC and ability to safely troubleshoot electrical issues. Install data cabling and connectors as needed.
  • Diagnose other misc. facility issues and determine appropriate solutions.
  • Conduct regular inspections of buildings and equipment.
  • Ensure that each building's interior and exterior are well-maintained and that grounds are clean and presentable.
  • Perform basic construction tasks such as carpentry, concrete, painting, drywall repair and other misc. duties as assigned.
  • Maintain accurate & detailed records in maintenance software app.
  • Monitor and control maintenance inventory, parts and supplies as needed.
  • Clearly and effectively communicate work issues with manager. 
  • Proactively address building issues without prompting and provide sound recommendations when needed.
  • Provide excellent customer service assistance to internal and external clients.

Requirements

  • Experience as a Maintenance Technician in a similar facilities maintenance role.
  • Strong primary skills in electrical and/or HVAC is required. 
  • Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
  • Experience with general property maintenance and painting. 
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and other documents.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency with power tools, multi-meters, and general hand tools.
  • Operating knowledge of maintenance software, Microsoft Office, current technology and an understanding of basic IT function.
  • Experience with computerized building automation systems (BAS) is helpful.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, drive for up to an hour at a time, and stand for up to 7 hours per day. Periodic bending, twisting repeatedly or consistently. The work is performed while sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching or stooping, periodically, repeatedly and sometimes consistently for up to 7 hours per day.  

Education/Training/Experience

  • High school diploma (or equivalent) required.
  • Vocational training in a relevant field is desirable.
  • Trade license or certification (e.g., HVAC, Electrical, etc.) is beneficial.
  • A minimum of three (3) years in facilities maintenance preferred.
  • Possession of a valid Massachusetts Driver’s License with a clean driving record.

Salary Description

$33/hr - $38/hr
