Facilities Maintenance Technician - Public Works

Description

Under direction, performs a variety of semi-skilled welding, electrical, building parks maintenance, and repair tasks; assists other work units as assigned. Work/Supervise individuals in special work programs.

Illustrative Duties

• Performs carpentry, electrical, plumbing, heating, ventilating and air conditioning, welding, and other semi-skilled building and mechanical repair tasks.
• Inspects, repairs, and replaces park playground equipment and accessories.
• Assists in major repair and remodeling projects as required; installs and/or builds partitions, installs paneling, drywall, molding, and trim
• Assists other units as assigned
• Performs other duties as assigned

Salary Range: 

$19.67 - $24.59 Hourly, $40,913 - $51,147 Annually 

Requirements

Qualifications:

Completion of secondary education, plus one (1) year vocational training or experience in semi-skilled welding, electrical, building, and mechanical maintenance repair work, or equivalent; possession of a valid state of Kentucky motor vehicle operator’s license.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of methods, tools, and practices used in carpentry, electrical, plumbing, heating, ventilating and air conditioning, building and property maintenance and repair. Skill in the use of maintenance repair tools and equipment, including small motorized equipment. Ability to follow general instructions. Ability to perform moderate to heavy manual labor. Effective communication skills. Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to tolerate various indoor and outdoor temperatures and climates; perform moderate to heavy repetitive physical labor for extended period of time. Ability to operate internal radio system. Must maintain the physical requirements to successfully pass the Essential Job Function test as required for this position
