Position Summary
The Facilities Manager ensures the optimal operation, safety, and functionality of Arts Bonita’s facilities, with a primary focus on the Performing Arts Center. This includes full responsibility for Hinman Auditorium (seating up to 400) and Moe Auditorium (seating up to 200), supporting all technical and facility-related needs for performances and events. The position also supervises maintenance and facility operations at the Visual Arts Center.
This is a hands-on role requiring a skilled, proactive individual who can perform handy work, manage maintenance tasks, coordinate contractors, and ensure compliance with permitting and safety codes. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, creative environment and enjoys supporting the arts.
Key Responsibilities
Performing Arts Center (Primary Focus)
- Oversee daily operations of Hinman and Moe auditoriums, including lighting, HVAC, seating, and backstage areas.
- Coordinate and execute seating conversions, including transforming venues from traditional auditorium seating to cabaret-style arrangements and vice versa.
- Manage and assist with performance and event setup, including furniture moves, risers, staging, and special configurations.
- Support technical staff in ensuring performance spaces are safe, clean, and event-ready.
- Conduct pre- and post-event walkthroughs to identify and address facility issues.
Visual Arts Center
- Supervise maintenance for classrooms, galleries, studios, administrative areas, and common spaces.
- Coordinate general repairs, upgrades, and classroom readiness for daily use.
General Maintenance & Handy Work
Perform hands-on maintenance tasks:
- Minor carpentry, electrical, and plumbing work
- Painting, wall repair, and furniture assembly
- Installing signage, fixtures, or display elements
- Maintain building systems and address urgent repairs in a timely manner.
Compliance & Landscaping
- Ensure up-to-date compliance with all local, state, and federal codes, including:
- Fire inspections
- Elevator and HVAC servicing
- Emergency system checks
- ADA accessibility
- Oversee all permitting processes and records.
- Manage landscaping and exterior maintenance (e.g., irrigation, walkways, signage, lighting).
Administrative & Supervisory
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs, vendor contacts, and supply inventories.
- Schedule and supervise contracted vendors and part-time maintenance or custodial support.
- Monitor and report on facility budget usage and recommend cost-saving improvements.
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of experience in facilities or operations management, especially in theaters or multi-use buildings.
- Strong hands-on maintenance and repair skills across multiple trades.
- Ability to safely move, lift, and reconfigure furniture and seating.
- Familiarity with permitting, safety codes, and fire inspections.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and performing physical labor.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in performing arts or educational settings.
- Understanding of event logistics and performance venue operations.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
