Job Summary: The Facilities Manager / Superintendent is a hybrid role responsible for managing the maintenance and development of company facilities while also serving as a superintendent on internal construction projects. This position plays a key role in ensuring that company-owned offices, shops, and yards are safe, functional, and continuously improved to support field operations. The role also oversees the execution of facility-related construction and renovation projects from planning through completion.
Key Responsibilities:
Facilities Management:
Oversee maintenance and operations of company buildings, shops, yards, and support infrastructure.
Implement preventive maintenance schedules for building systems and equipment.
Manage vendor relationships for building services (e.g., HVAC, plumbing, elevators, janitorial, pest control, landscaping, security). Ensure competitive quotes are received and look for opportunities to reduce expenses without compromising service.
Manage repair and facility improvement requests from users. Coordinate request completion with other company department staff (e.g. IT or Equipment), subcontractors, or vendors as needed.
Assist in preparing annual forecasts, project quotes and other financial management responsibilities.
Communicate user impacts via company communication channels and ensure timely completion of requests.
Maintain facility compliance with OSHA, fire, environmental, and local building regulations.
Support emergency preparedness and safety planning for all company-owned facilities.
Facility Superintendent:
Lead construction and renovation projects related to company facilities, including new construction, shop/office expansions/remodels, and yard improvements.
Develop and maintain project schedules, site logistics plans, and quality control measures.
Coordinate subcontractors and vendors to ensure timely and high-quality work.
Ensure job site safety, cleanliness, and organization throughout each project.
Participate in pre-construction planning, budgeting, and procurement of materials.
Communicate with company leadership regarding project status, risks, and needs.
Qualifications:
10+ years of experience in facilities management and commercial building construction
Proven track record managing facility improvement and construction projects from pre-con to closeout.
Familiarity with mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and building systems.
Strong leadership and organizational skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, and scheduling software (e.g., MS Project or Primavera).
Valid driver’s license with willingness to travel between multiple facilities and project sites across Utah.
Working Conditions:
Split between special/project sites and company office/shop environments.
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and work in outdoor weather conditions as needed.
May require occasional evening or weekend work depending on project demands.
