Position Summary:
Under the general direction of the Facilities Supervisor, the Facilities Technician is responsible for various aspects of building maintenance, with a primary focus on painting. This individual will serve as the lead painter on the Facilities team, taking ownership of all painting-related tasks across the campus. Secondary responsibilities include basic electrical, HVAC, carpentry, plumbing, landscaping, mowing, and completing work orders as assigned.
Major Responsibilities:
1. Serves as the primary painter for all interior and exterior projects, ensuring high-quality finishes and compliance with safety and environmental standards.
2. Identifies and corrects building and equipment problems by performing carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting, and HVAC work to maintain buildings and equipment in safe condition.
3. Repairs, modifies, constructs, fabricates, installs, and maintains building structures and equipment (e.g., roofs, floors, walls, ceilings, foundations, generators, HVAC equipment, compressors, etc.).
4. Replaces or updates inoperable or old building materials and appliances (e.g., motors, belts, pumps, window glass, sinks, doors, smoke alarms, cabinets, shelves, tile, light fixtures, filter systems, patios etc.).
5. Inspects facilities, equipment, systems (e.g., electrical, plumbing, power sources), and vendor work to ensure safety, quality, and maintenance schedules.
6. Responsible for the mowing of lawns and the general upkeep of the grounds. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
Other Responsibilities:
· Ensure the provision of quality services to clients through participation in the agency’s CQI process.
· Display competence and responsiveness to cultural differences present in both customer and employee populations.
· Maintain cleanliness of gutters.
· Maintain and service all equipment.
· Other duties as assigned.
Reporting Relationship:
Position reports to: Facilities Director
Requirements
Knowledge: Basic knowledge of all levels of building maintenance with professional-level painting experience.
Experience: Three years of general maintenance experience is highly preferred. Experience with large-scale painting projects is strongly desired. Must possess a valid NC driver license.
Skills/Physical/Working Conditions: Must be able to sit, walk, and stand for up to 8 hours in indoor and outdoor settings under varying weather conditions. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Must be insurable by Eliada's insurance carriers.
