Compton Unified School District is seeking a Facilities Project Manager to support the planning and delivery of facility improvement, renovation, modernization, and maintenance-related projects across district properties.
This position serves as a key point of coordination between district departments, contractors, consultants, vendors, and school-site personnel. The ideal candidate is organized, comfortable managing multiple projects at different stages, and able to keep schedules, documentation, budgets, and project requirements moving in the right direction.
Responsibilities
Coordinate assigned facility improvement and modernization projects from planning through completion
Track project schedules, budgets, milestones, contracts, and required documentation
Coordinate activities with architects, engineers, contractors, consultants, vendors, and district personnel
Review project progress and identify scheduling, cost, quality, or operational concerns
Participate in project meetings, site walks, inspections, and construction-related discussions
Maintain project records, reports, change documentation, schedules, and correspondence
Review invoices, proposals, estimates, change orders, and other project documentation
Help ensure work is completed according to approved plans, specifications, district requirements, and applicable regulations
Coordinate project activities to minimize disruption to students, employees, and school operations
Provide regular project updates to district leadership and other stakeholders
Assist with project closeout, documentation, warranties, and completion requirements
Requirements
Experience managing multiple projects, schedules, vendors, and competing priorities
Knowledge of facilities planning, construction, renovation, or building maintenance processes
Ability to read and work with project plans, specifications, estimates, and contracts
Strong organizational and documentation skills
Effective written and verbal communication
Ability to work collaboratively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
Sound judgment when resolving project issues and changing priorities
Proficiency with standard business and project-management software
Experience working with K-12 schools, public agencies, construction programs, or institutional facilities is desirable.
