Description

Position Overview:

The role of the Sanitation Professional is a key position at Bread Alone. The work of the Sanitation Department is what allows everyone at Bread Alone to be able to come to work in a clean, safe and comfortable environment. The Sanitation team primarily focuses on both creating the groundwork for Personal and Food Safety for the entire facility including our attached cafe. This role requires a focus on detail, the ability to complete repetitive tasks over a long period of time and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Our Sanitation Professionals perform a range of duties to keep the facility clean, such as mopping, sweeping, dish washing, trash removal, and general upkeep. You will also be responsible for performing routine check-ins to check that spaces like restrooms are always sanitary.

The Sanitation Professional focuses on completing all assigned tasks, while maintaining all mandatory safety and sanitation standards throughout the building and grounds. This position is in our Boiceville facility. We are looking to fill out our strong team with skilled and passionate team members.

Hours: The hours of operation are Monday–Sunday, 6:00 AM–3:30 AM. Standard working hours are 40 hours per week. Work schedules are designed to be flexible, with adjustments made as needed based on project demands and department needs. Employees may have rotating shifts, staggered start times, or flexible hours to accommodate workload variations while maintaining efficiency. We strive to make schedules as manageable as possible to encourage and allow work-life balance.

Requirements

Duties and Responsibilities

Duties, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Embody the Bread Alone culture by centering teamwork, empathy, and resilience
  • Perform duties safely and efficiently and in accordance with Bread Alone policy
  • Have a full knowledge of all guidelines for safe and efficient operation of the stations you work according to standards set by supervisors, managers, and training materials.
  • Take ownership of your work and follow supervisor and manager instructions to ensure you and your team complete assigned tasks in a timely manner.  
  • Engage in your work with an understanding of its contribution and impact on the success of the whole operation.
  • Actively and urgently communicate any issues or observed variation with product or equipment on your station to the station supervisor.
  • Perform end-of-day cleanup and breakdown. Leaving each specified area clean and orderly.
  • Daily refuse removal adhering to composting, recycling, and garbage policies.
  • Proper chemical use, chemical storage, equipment usage, and equipment storage.
  • Responsible for providing and maintaining quality sanitation standards within the cleaning specifications.
  • And all other duties assigned

Job Requirements:

  • Able to stand for long periods of time while executing tasks quickly and accurately
  • Able to to work in a physically demanding fast-paced environment
  • Able to tolerate exposure to high levels of heat and cold
  • Able to twist and bend repeatedly for long periods of time
  • Respect for and comfort with a diverse and inclusive workplace
  • Able to pull, push, move and lift to waist level and carry awkward and shifting weights up to 50 pounds
  • Able to work with, handle, operate, and control hot equipment and products in a safe manner according to Bread Alone guidelines
  • Able and willing to use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and assigned uniform as required per company policy
  • Willing to follow all applicable Good Manufacturing Practices which includes but are not limited to: Removing any visible or exposed piercings and body jewelry, personal accessories, false nails & refraining from makeup at work (ie. mascara or heavy foundation, lipstick)
  • Willing to take responsibility for your own and others safety as well as follow safety rules and regulations and report any unsafe conditions to management
  • The Bakery is open 365 days a year and team members must be willing to work consistently throughout the year which includes holidays and weekends

Job Type: Full-time, non-exempt

Compensation Details: Bread Alone is deeply committed to ethically balancing the demands of the business and paying a living wage to all those who contribute to our success. Pay for this position is $17.50 to $23.00 per hour.
