Job Description - Facilities Supervisor - Electrician

This is a W-2 full-time Direct Hire position based in the Greater Louisville, KY area. Summary


This role supports our die casting operations in an automotive manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and installing electrical systems and controls on high-pressure die casting machines and related equipment. This position plays a critical role in ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient production by maintaining all electrical components in accordance with safety codes and production standards.


Key Responsibilities:



  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems on die casting machines, CNC machines, trim presses, furnaces, robots, and automated material handling systems.

  • Troubleshoot and diagnose faults in electrical circuits, PLCs, HMIs, servo motors, and safety systems.

  • Interpret and work from electrical schematics, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.

  • Perform preventative and predictive electrical maintenance using CMMS systems.

  • Ensure compliance with electrical safety codes and plant standards including Lockout/Tagout procedures.

  • Calibrate and maintain temperature controls, sensors, limit switches, photo-eyes, and other automation components.

  • Assist with the installation, startup, and commissioning of new machinery and upgrades.

  • Document all maintenance activities and update schematics or panel layouts when changes are made.

  • Collaborate with mechanical maintenance, production, and engineering teams to resolve complex equipment issues.

  • Respond to breakdown calls quickly to minimize downtime and support 24/7 operations.


Qualifications:



  • Valid Industrial Electrician license (e.g., 442A or 309A in Ontario, or equivalent in other jurisdictions).

  • 3+ years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment, preferably with exposure to die casting or foundry operations.

  • Strong knowledge of three-phase power systems, motor controls, and industrial automation.

  • Licensed and experienced operating a forklift and scissor lift and JLG.

  • Experience with 5S practices.  

  • Proficient in PLC troubleshooting (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens) and basic programming is an asset.

  • Experience working with variable frequency drives (VFDs), servo systems, and industrial networking.

  • Solid understanding of ESA, NEC, or equivalent electrical safety codes and standards.

  • Ability to work independently and cross functionally in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

  • Ability to work from heights, in confined spaces, and lift up to 50 lbs as required.

  • Willingness to work rotating shifts, overtime, and respond to emergency calls when necessary.


Preferred Skills:



  • Experience with die casting machines (e.g., Bühler, Idra, Toshiba) and trim press automation.

  • Familiarity with SCADA systems, HMI interfaces, and Ethernet/IP or Profinet communication networks.

  • Certification or working knowledge of robotics (e.g., ABB, Fanuc) and machine vision systems is a plus.

  • Exposure to TPM, Lean Manufacturing, or ISO/TS quality systems.


Working Conditions:



  • Primarily based in a manufacturing plant environment with regular exposure to high temperatures, molten metal, noise, and industrial equipment.

  • Must be able to wear appropriate PPE and walk through all areas of the plant.
