About The SEED School of Washington, D.C.
The SEED Foundation (www.seedfoundation.com) was created in 1997 to establish college-preparatory urban boarding schools that prepare secondary students both academically and socially, for success in college and beyond. In 1998, the Foundation opened The SEED Public Charter School of Washington, D.C. – the nation’s first public college preparatory boarding school. The school currently serves 250 students in grades 9-12. In 2015, 100% of SEED’s seniors were accepted to a four-year college or university.
All SEED students live on campus from Sunday evening through Friday afternoon when they return home for the weekend. The dormitories are organized into small “houses” of an average of 15-18 students per resident advisor for afternoon and evening routines such as academic study hall, house meetings, SPARKS and other structured activities. We provide a safe and caring 24-hour boarding experience. Our relationship with parents/guardians is essential to the success of their scholar while at SEED.

Position Overview
Reporting to the Campus Operations Manager, the Facilities Technician (Resident Superintendent) is a key role within the Operations team, responsible for ensuring the continuous functionality and safety of our 4-acre campus, which operates on a 24-hour educational and residential model. This position primarily involves hands-on facility maintenance and repair. A unique requirement of the role is that the Technician resides in provided on-campus housing to serve as the immediate, primary responder for all building-related issues that arise outside of regular working hours, including overnight and weekend emergencies. This ensures prompt resolution of urgent concerns, minimizing disruption and maintaining a secure environment for students and staff.

This position will be based at The SEED Public Charter School of Washington, D.C. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to move about the building and campus, often quickly. The employee is also regularly required to speak audibly, see, listen actively, and use hands to handle objects, tools, and equipment.
The Facilities Technician position requires the ability to perform significant physical activities such as standing for extended periods, walking long distances across campus, bending, stooping, climbing ladders, and lifting. Employees must be able to lift and move up to 50 lbs unassisted. This role requires agility and stamina to respond to emergencies across a 4-acre campus at any hour. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
