Facilities Tradesman/Apprentice

Circuit of The Americas (COTA) is a 365-entertainment destination for world-class events located in Austin, TX. Job Description:

The Facilities Tradesman is responsible for performing skilled maintenance, repair, and renovation work across multiple trades, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and general building maintenance. The role ensures the upkeep, safety, and functionality of all facility systems and structures, supporting operational efficiency and compliance with safety and building codes. This is a full-time, onsite role. 

Requirements & Essential Functions:

• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on facility systems (e.g., lighting, plumbing, HVAC, electrical).
• Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues and implement solutions.
• Complete work orders for general building maintenance, including carpentry, painting, and drywall repair.
• Install, repair, and maintain fixtures and equipment throughout the facility.
• Conduct inspections of building systems and report or address safety or operational concerns.
• Respond to emergency maintenance requests in a timely and effective manner.
• Operate hand and power tools safely and effectively.
• Maintain accurate records of repairs, inspections, and service calls.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and internal maintenance policies.
• Assist with office and facility moves, including assembling or relocating furniture and equipment.
• Collaborate with contractors and vendors as needed for specialized projects or services.
• Maintains shop, equipment, tools, and vehicles
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED required; technical training or apprenticeship preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in building maintenance or a skilled trade (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, etc.). 
• Knowledge of local building codes, safety regulations, and trade practices.
• Ability to read blueprints, diagrams, and technical manuals.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• A valid driver’s license is required. 

Physical Demands:

• The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to pull, reach, bend, and to talk or hear
• The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, and crouch
• Use hands to handle, or feel; significant fine finger dexterity
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include depth perception

Work Environment:

• Regularly exposed to dust, odors, oil, fumes, moisture, and noise
• Exposed to a combination of normal office type environments and shop environments
• While performing the duties of this position, the employee is occasionally exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, wet or humid conditions, outdoor weather conditions, extreme cold, and extreme heat
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
• Ability to stand, sit, use of hands to handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms.
• Ability to squat, bend, twist, push/pull.
• Ability to stand/walk for long periods.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.
• Work in extreme environments outdoors throughout the year.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can be loud during events.
