POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Facility Cleaning Staff plays a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for children, families, staff, and guests of the museum. This position is responsible for daily cleaning, sanitizing, and general upkeep of museum exhibits, public areas, classrooms and  restrooms. 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Clean and sanitize all public and staff-accessible areas including lobbies, classrooms, restrooms and exhibit areas.


• Maintain cleanliness of interactive exhibit spaces, ensuring surfaces and props are regularly disinfected.


• Replenish supplies such as soap, paper towels, toilet paper, and hand sanitizer.
  


• Sweep, mop, vacuum, and dust floors and surfaces throughout the facility.
  


• Clean windows, glass doors, and mirrors to ensure clear visibility and appearance.
  


• Follow all safety, sanitation, and infection control policies, especially around child-safe cleaning protocols.
  


• Report any maintenance issues, supply needs, or safety hazards to supervisors promptly.
  


• Ensure cleaning equipment is used safely and stored properly after each use.
  

QUALIFICATIONS

• Prior custodial or cleaning experience, ideally in a childcare, school, or public facility setting.


• Familiarity with child-safe cleaning products and procedures.


• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.


• Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and stand or walk for extended periods.


• Must pass a background check.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Indoor setting with exposure to children, families, and diverse groups.


• May require early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.


• Safety equipment and protective gear provided as necessary.
