Facility Engineer I

Purpose of the Position 

The Facility Engineer I maintains and repairs manufacturing equipment and the corresponding facility systems to ensure a high utilization rate and safe environment. Although the location of the position is in Newton, NJ, from time to time it may be required to undertake duties at other Thorlabs locations.

Essential Job Functions include the following, but are not limited to:

• Preventative Maintenance of manufacturing equipment to ensure like new operation and updating of associated records.
• Rapid response to unscheduled downtime of productions lines by making repairs as fast as possible.
• Responsible for spare parts procurement and management.
• Coordinate visits with consultants, contractors and building/safety inspectors.
• Participates on projects to procure and qualify new equipment.
• Support manufacturing staff with training on proper equipment operation.
• Complete projects to maintain and upgrade the facility to support group operations.
• Comply with and help resolve any issues with safety regulations including but not limited to chemical handling, personal protective equipment, and equipment utilization.
• Maintain proper records in department Ticket system.
• Participate in Continuous Improvement efforts.
• Comply with the company safety program and maintain a clean and organized work area.

Experience:

5+ years of experience in the field of equipment maintenance, facilities management, or construction

Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills:

• Mechanical aptitude and use of hand tools
• Clear sense of ownership and ability to work independently
• Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and comply with high quality standards.
• Good work ethic.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Strong ability to shift from one task to another to address changing priorities.
• Basic mathematic knowledge.
• Proficient in basic computer skills such as Microsoft Office.

The estimated pay range for this role is $71,400- $89,267 annually

Must be a US person to work on ITAR products
