Primary Purpose 


The Facility Technician is responsible for performing a wide range of skilled maintenance and repair tasks across VetEvolve’s veterinary clinics in the Baltimore region. This role ensures that all facilities are safe, functional, and well-maintained, supporting the clinical teams in delivering exceptional care. The ideal candidate is a hands-on problem solver with strong handyman skills and a solid understanding of building systems, safety compliance, and equipment maintenance. 


Key Responsibilities 


General Maintenance & Repairs 



  • Perform skilled repairs in carpentry, millwork, flooring, drywall, painting, and general handyman tasks. 



  • Conduct plumbing and basic electrical repairs, including fixture replacements, outlet installations, and troubleshooting. 



  • Install and maintain cabinetry, shelving, and other built-in furniture. 



  • Repair or replace flooring materials such as tile, vinyl, and laminate. 


Equipment & Systems 



  • Diagnose and repair appliances and veterinary medical equipment (e.g., autoclaves, exam tables, lab devices). 



  • Use diagnostic tools such as voltage meters and circuit testers to troubleshoot electrical systems. 



  • Maintain and test building systems including HVAC, lighting, and water heaters. 



  • Support installation and maintenance of security systems (cameras, alarms, access control). 


Preventive Maintenance & Safety 



  • Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on building systems and equipment. 



  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, local building codes, and safety standards. 



  • Identify and mitigate safety hazards in clinics (e.g., trip hazards, fire risks). 



  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and safety checks. 


Facility Support 



  • Respond to urgent repair requests and emergency maintenance issues. 



  • Coordinate with external vendors when specialized services are required. 



  • Assist with clinic renovations, relocations, and capital improvement projects. 



  • Maintain exterior areas including signage, lighting, and parking lots. 


 


Travel Requirement 



  • Up to 50% travel may be required to provide preventive maintenance and project support for veterinary hospitals outside of the Baltimore region. 


 


Qualifications 



  • 3+ years of experience in facility maintenance, construction, or a skilled trade. 



  • Proficiency in using hand and power tools, diagnostic equipment, and maintenance software. 



  • Strong communication skills 



  • Strong knowledge of building systems (plumbing, electrical, HVAC). 



  • Ability to read blueprints, technical manuals, and safety documentation. 



  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (travel between sites required). 



  • Experience in healthcare or veterinary environments is a plus. 


 


Preferred Skills 



  • Familiarity with CMMS platforms (e.g., Service Channel). 



  • EPA certification or trade licenses (electrical, plumbing, HVAC) a plus. 



  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities. 



  • Strong communication and customer service skills. 


 


Compensation



  •  $75,000 – $90,000 annually, depending on experience
