GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:

The Assistant Professor of Information Systems and Cybersecurity is responsible for providing high-quality instruction in both foundational and advanced topics in information systems, computer networks, cybersecurity, and related areas. This faculty member will support student learning and success through innovative teaching, curriculum development, and engagement in department and college service. The position requires a commitment to teaching excellence in a diverse, student-centered environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and deliver course content in accordance with the curriculum.
- Plan and conduct lectures, discussions, and laboratory sessions.
- Assess and evaluate student performance through assignments, exams, and projects.
- Provide constructive feedback to students to facilitate their academic progress.
- Advise students on academic and career-related matters.
- Mentor students in research projects, internships, and other academic pursuits.
- Engage in scholarly activities, research, and professional development.
- Participate in departmental and institutional committees.
- Contribute to the overall academic and administrative functions of the college.
- Stay current with educational trends and methodologies.
- Attend workshops, conferences, and other professional development opportunities.
- Collaborate with local community organizations and industry partners.
- Participate in outreach activities and contribute to community development.
- Utilize technology and innovative teaching methods to enhance the learning experience.
- Incorporate online resources and tools into course delivery where applicable.
- Ensure compliance with accreditation standards and institutional policies.
- Participate in assessment and evaluation processes to enhance program effectiveness.
- Teach undergraduate courses in information systems, networking, and cybersecurity
- Deliver Cisco Networking Academy curriculum for CCNA preparation (Cisco 1, 2, and 3)
- Prepare students for CompTIA certifications including ITF+, A+, and Security+
- Develop and maintain hands-on lab environments for practical skills development
- Support workforce development by maintaining industry-relevant instruction
- Develop and deliver comprehensive instruction preparing students for CompTIA ITF (Information Technology Fundamentals), CompTIA A+ certification, CompTIA Security+ certification, and Cisco CCNA certification.
- Teach Cisco Networking Academy courses including Cisco 1: Introduction to Networks, Cisco 2: Switching, Routing, and Wireless Essentials, and Cisco 3: Enterprise Networking, Security, and Automation.
- Maintain Cisco Certified Instructor status through ongoing professional development. Maintain current knowledge of certification exam requirements and updates. Track and improve student certification pass rates.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience using cybersecurity testing applications, such as Metasploit
- Capable of creating and managing virtual machines through Hyper-V
- Experience deploying and managing Windows and Linux servers
- Experience in community college or technical college instruction
- Experience with online and hybrid course delivery
- Demonstrated ability to engage diverse student populations
- Experience developing applied IT curricula focused on workforce readiness
- Industry experience in network administration, information security, or systems administration
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in information systems, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution. CompTIA A+ and Security+ certifications (or attained by employment start date).
- Minimum of 3 years’ practical experience in IT, networking, or cybersecurity
- Evidence of excellent teaching ability at the college level
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Master's degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or related field,
additional advanced Cisco or cybersecurity certifications (CCNP, CySA+, CISSP, CEH, etc.),
current Cisco Certified Instructor qualification for teaching Cisco 1, 2, and 3 courses, and/or
active Cisco CCNA certification preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Moderate physical activity. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 40 pounds; standing, sitting and/or walking for long periods. Travel required: some (less than 10%) out-of-state travel for related CWE conferences and professional development. Ability to clearly communicate instructional material, concepts, and ideas.
