William & Mary’s Batten School of Coastal & Marine Sciences (Batten School) & Virginia Institute of Marine Science (VIMS) invites applicants for the position of Faculty Lifecycle Manager. The Batten School & VIMS is both a research institute and an institute of higher education offering undergraduate and graduate degrees. More than 50 faculty members at the Batten School & VIMS conduct cutting-edge research, develop solutions to challenges facing coastal communities and ecosystems, and educate the next generation of leaders.
Reporting to the Assistant Director of Administration, the Faculty Lifecyle Manager will manage, track, and execute the end-to-end administrative processes associated with faculty positions. These processes include, but are not limited to, faculty recruitment and onboarding, promotion and tenure reviews, professorships and awards, term contract renewals, faculty leaves of absence, annual evaluations, and affiliated faculty appointments. This position must develop and maintain thorough knowledge of the policies and procedures that govern faculty appointments and serve as a resource for their interpretation and implementation.
Additional responsibilities of the Faculty Lifecycle Manager include, but are not limited to:
Maintain accurate faculty records and data and provide data reports as needed.
Develop and maintain proficiency in the use of databases and online systems, such as Watermark Faculty Success and Workday, to manage data and processes.
Facilitate faculty development opportunities.
As a team member in the Office of the Dean & Director, this position will be expected to contribute to the daily operations within the office as needed and will serve as backup support for the Executive Administrative Assistant. The position requires a high level of professionalism, competence, judgement, and attention to detail.
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education & experience.
Experience working with sensitive and confidential information.
Experience in data and records management.
Proficiency with web-based software to manage and report on data and complete administrative processes.
Proven ability to develop and implement effective and efficient processes and workflows.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with faculty and administrative officers.
Ability to assimilate and interpret information from a variety of sources and develop administrative processes that comply with required policies.
Excellent judgement and the ability to work as an effective part of a small team.
Prior experience in higher education, experience in faculty affairs and development and/or human resources a plus.
Experience with Watermark Faculty Success and/or Workday software.
Salary: Commensurate with Experience
