Support Immigrant and Displaced Families as They Build New Roots

$60,000

THE ROLE

Win is seeking a compassionate and culturally responsive Family Advocate to join its LEAD (Legal, Education, Advocacy, and Development) Program. As the number of immigrant and displaced families entering New York City's shelter system continues to grow, the need for specialized support services has never been greater. The Family Advocate will provide direct support, advocacy, education, and resource navigation services to immigrant, asylum-seeking, and displaced families residing in Win shelters.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Assess immigrant, asylum-seeking, and displaced families to identify needs, provide service navigation, and connect clients to appropriate resources and supports.

  • Guide clients through complex immigration, housing, and social service systems while providing advocacy and trauma-informed support.

  • Partner with legal service providers to ensure families receive available legal assistance and support clients in gathering required documentation and completing applications.

  • Coordinate referrals, accompany clients to appointments when needed, and provide ongoing follow-up to help families achieve their goals.

  • Deliver Know Your Rights workshops and other educational programming across Win shelter sites.

  • Translate and interpret immigration-related documents and communications for Spanish-speaking clients and families.

  • Collaborate with internal programs and community organizations to connect clients with housing, education, employment, income-building, and other stabilization opportunities.

  • Maintain accurate case records and documentation, build relationships with community partners, and participate in trainings, meetings, and professional development activities.

WHO YOU WILL BE

  • You will hold a bachelor’s degree in social work, Human Services, or a related field with two years of relevant experience or possess five years of related professional experience.

  • You will have experience working with immigrant, refugee, asylum-seeking, or displaced populations preferred.

  • You will demonstrate a strong commitment to supporting families on their path toward stability and self-sufficiency.

  • You will possess a willingness to learn and understand U.S. immigration systems and processes.

  • You will be bilingual in Spanish and English.

  • You will have excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
