Title: Family & Community Engagement Lead

Status: 12 month; Full-time, Exempt

Availability: SY 25-26 school year and beyond

Compensation: $60,000-$80,000 dependent on experience.

Summary of Position  The Family and Community Engagement Lead works to develop effective partnerships with families and the greater community. Additionally, this position provides support for staff and coordinates parent classes, support groups, monthly Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) meetings and school fundraising events. 

Essential Functions The following tasks are representative of the duties of the Family and Community Engagement Lead. To perform this job successfully, the Family and Community Engagement Lead must perform each essential function in a satisfactory manner as determined through the annual review process. Accommodations will be made for individuals who have limitations that prevent them from performing certain tasks. 

Description of Tasks: 

Initiate and Lead Family Communications: 

• Assist Executive Director to create and implement PA Family Communication Plan.


• Assist Executive Director to create and implement Marketing Plan.


• Develop and send school-wide communications on a regular basis


• Develop and send MTSS and SST related materials to relevant families.


• Ensure the Family Student Handbook is up-to-date and distributed.

Family Support and Advocacy:

• Act as a liaison between families and school.


• Develop a resource list and create a parent resource area


• Serve as Homeless liaison.


• Support with family communication regarding student conflicts and disciplinary issues.


• Support and interpret in Family SPED/MLL/MH meetings.

Scholar Recruitment and New Scholar/Family Welcome:

• Develop and implement a summer communication plan to keep families engaged.


• Support with enrollment efforts

Develop Effective Community Partnerships:

• Maintain existing partnerships with community organizations


• Represent PA at community events


• Implement partnerships with neighborhood agencies, organizations, and businesses in service of PA’s mission vision, and values

Support Staff with Family Communication:

• Assist staff as needed when communicating with parents of PA students, including translating notices and phone conversations, and generating notices; assist the classroom teachers by translating conversations with students as needed; assist staff by translating documents for distribution.


• School Involvement Actively participate on one or more school committees; actively participate in school events; monitor playground, busses, cafeteria, and hallway duties as needed or directed. 


• Additional duties as assigned

Educational Background and Related Work Experience 

• A high school diploma is required for this position. Preference is given to candidates with an Associate or Bachelor degree. 


• Experience working in an elementary school setting is required. 


• Ability to speak, read, and write proficiently in Spanish and English. 

Specialized Knowledge and Abilities 

• Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills. 


• Knowledge of district-specific policies and procedures. 


• Strong customer service skills including ability to manage stressful situations. ▪ Time management and organization skills, including ability to manage multiple tasks.  Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds. 


• Understanding of the importance of workplace safety, and knowledge of how to handle unsafe working conditions appropriately. 


• Evidence of the practice of a high level of confidentiality and discretion with sensitive student information.
