KIPP Memphis Public Schools is part of KIPP (Knowledge Is Power Program), a national network of tuition-free, open-enrollment, public schools that are successful in helping students from educationally underserved communities develop the knowledge, skills, character, and habits needed to succeed in college and the competitive world beyond. Job Description
This position will coordinate communications and activities among teachers, parents, community and school administrators. In order to address student/family challenges, create solutions, and manage resources for our students and families, KIPP Memphis is hiring a Family Engagement and Intervention Specialist whose responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Essential functions of the job may include but are not limited to the following:
Community Engagement
- Improving and increasing the frequency of communication with families through designing and managing platforms, including Parentsquare, social media, progress reports, PTO conferences, and Parent University
- Liaising with the parent leader to ensure parent meetings are occurring quarterly
- Partnering with community organizations and attending community meetings on behalf of the the school, with the stated goal of open lines of communication between our community partners
- Hosting virtual information sessions to teach parents to use technology and online learning platforms
- Serving as a liaison to local agencies that are providing assistance with employment, food, and housing for KIPP Families
- Collaborating with school staff, families, and the community in developing and implementing services and programs
- Developing and maintaining relationships with new community partners
- Ensuring families understand the Student Code of Conduct
Intervention
- Work collaboratively with admin and teacher leaders in creating systems-wide programs to promote positive school culture for students and teachers
- Enforce school discipline policies and assist teachers with strategies to improve classroom management
- Work with parents and teachers on intervention support plans for students who don't adhere to the vision of the culture
- Serve as an administrative point person in cases of severe discipline and communicate directly to the Principal
- Develop and execute new student and parent orientation
- Conduct monthly culture and climate professional developments for the faculty and staff
- Assist with chronic absenteeism initiative
Student Recruitment and Enrollment
- Support school student recruitment and enrollment
- Serves as a member of the school attendance team
All other duties and responsibilities as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- Bachelor's degree required. In lieu of a degree, 4 or more years of relevant experience.
- Proven experience managing projects and data

- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and student data system platforms (PowerSchool, Illuminate, etc.)

Other Qualifications
Satisfactory criminal records check, pre-hire and annually thereafter, if applicable. Must be eligible to work in the United States and provide work authorization. Occasional travel to KIPP Memphis campuses may be required.
ADA Requirements
Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer, hand-held learning devices and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
