Job Description - Family Resource Specialist

Description

The Family Resource Specialist plans and directs meaningful interaction (telephone, email, attendance/advocacy at meetings, Network and/or home visits) for ages 6 to 18 to strengthen connections to resources and natural supports to deter placement outside the home. They will consult with caregivers and providers to ensure that caregivers’ perspectives are included in all planning and decision making and to help trouble shoot obstacles that may arise. In addition, they will coach and model effective problem-solving, decision making, and communication skills that support collaboration with various systems/providers, which ultimately empowers caregivers to advocate for themselves and their children. They will be required to help support the development of positive, effective parenting skills and aid families in identifying and enhancing community resources and their natural support networks via home, school, and community-based visits.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Empower families to make informed choices regarding the nature of support for themselves and their child by providing an understanding of what resources, services, and supports are available and how to access them. 
  • Develop a family's capacity to actively participate in all decisions about services and support for themselves and their child. 
  • Assess, monitor, and revise the Network Plan with emphasis on any changes in need in their life domains: safety, spiritual, emotional/behavioral health, family interaction, natural supports, residential security, financial stability, legal, medical, and education. 
  • Work with the family and their provider team to promote effective collaboration and communication. 
  • Strengthen and develop a family's skill and feeling of self-efficacy so they can effectively advocate for their child, work collaboratively with service providers, and do so with increasing independence over time.

Benefits for Full Time employees:

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree.
