Farm Camp Counselor

Description

A Farm Camp Counselor is responsible for a small group of children, leading them through a variety of activities to promote learning and exploration of agriculture in a fun, beautiful setting.  Counselors will guide campers in daily lessons on crops and animals, chores, activities, and opportunities for rest and play. Ideal candidates would enjoy working with elementary-aged children, learning and teaching new concepts about farm life, and making camp memories for all campers.

Roles & Responsibilities

A Farm Camp Counselor will be responsible for a group of up to 10-12 campers ages 6-11 with a fun, positive and outgoing attitude while acting as a role model. Counselors will engage campers in interactive activities including lessons or crafts, daily farm chores, and organized farmyard play while maintaining a safe environment.

  • Assist with set-up and daily clean-up 
  • Assist with developing, modifying, evaluating, and/or implementing changes to camp programming as needed and directed by the Lead Counselor and Farm Camp Administrator
• Livestock Activities
  • Give clear instructions
  • Follow safety standards when working with farm animals
  • Assist with daily animal care such as feeding and clean up of farm animals 
• Counselor Lifestyle
  • Engage with all campers
  • Promote positivity and cooperation between campers/counselors
  • Ability to create, analyze and problem solve that allow for last-minute changes 

Requirements

• Age Requirement - at least 14 years of age
• Monday - Friday 8 AM - 4:30 PM
• Prior experience working with children preferred
• Ability to work outdoors for extended periods during all kinds of weather conditions
• Ability to handle conflict resolution appropriately
• Ability to frequently stand; walk; use hands, objects, tools; reach with hands and arms; ability to climb ladders
