Farm Data Services Supervisor

Classification: Exempt

Reports To: Technical Services & Feed Operations Manager

Job Summary/Objective

Manage all technical support for Farm Operations, focusing mainly on data management within fish inventory tracking software or applicable system. Oversees data entry for all farms and feed mill data and processes. Has oversight of all data entry clerk processes and information. 

Essential Functions

• Assures that the farm database is being updated as needed and data is being managed correctly and consistently.
• Work with the data base programmer to help facilitate the development of a useful data mining method which will help analyze pertinent data, ultimately resulting in “on track” decision making.
• Work cooperatively with all company departments. 
• Develop and implement training programs for existing and new applications and processes. 
• Manage, train, and provide support for company personal computer system and users responsible for fish inventory tracking software and data tracking for Farm Services.
• Manage miscellaneous farm data and communication systems as required.  
• Work with all departments to identify, plan, and implement new software programs to support farm business processes.
• Create new and maintain existing documentation related to computer, network, printing, and telephone systems as well as business processes and applications that rely on these systems.
• Participate in discussions about confidential/sensitive matters.
• Ability to present and speak in front of groups. 
• Provide excellent internal and external customer service. 
• Communicate with employees and vendors through written, oral and face-to-face interactions.
• Work with fellow employees in completion of work. 
• Communicate with fellow employees to complete tasks and adhere to safety standards. 
• Work both independently and with others to identify and implement efficiency gains related to IT functions and farm business processes.
• Responsible for spotting and analyzing patterns in complex data sets, filter and sort data, and carry out statistical analysis.
• Responsible for the analyses and interpretation of data using a variety of statistical techniques, with a focus on the accuracy of input information.
• Provide aid, training, and goal setting to all employees under supervision.
• Assist VP of Farms in creating projection models and tracking yearly progress against said models.
• Have extensive knowledge of fish inventory tracking software(GoFish) application or data entry application method used.
• Ability to run fiscal week and month closeouts and spot and correct data errors when the need arises.
• Comprehensive understanding of farm reports pulled from applications and ability to extract and use da-ta in various scenarios.
• Complete understanding of Swimming Inventory Analysis or similar reporting for use in data extraction and general statistical farm analysis. 
• Ability to troubleshoot database errors within the SQL Server to allow affected personnel to complete data entry duties.
• Instruct affected database personnel on how to effectively correct data entry errors and aid when necessary to keep data as true as possible.
• Conduct and attend meetings pertaining to farms and data. 
• Lead data entry clerk meetings a minimum of monthly or more often as needed to ensure consistency amongst all farm data.
• Assist in hiring and training of all farm data entry personnel.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position supervises the data entry process.  

Work Environment

The worker is mainly in an office environment.

Physical Demands

This job involves light work occasionally exerting up to 20 pounds of lifting. 

The worker will be required to have a range of motion as follows: 

• Often requires sitting or standing for sustained periods of time. 
• Occasionally requires stooping and reaching. 
• Occasionally requires walking, moving or climbing to accomplish tasks. 
• Lifting is required on an occasional basis.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

Full-time position, 5 days a week, Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. 

Travel

Local travel is required.

Required Education and Experience

• Requires a Bachelor's Degree in business/information technology and one year of work experience or equivalent combination of work and training.
• Required to have advanced knowledge of MS Excel spreadsheets, computer systems and computer pro-grams.
• Ability to develop and lead people with positive and innovative ideas. 
• Driver’s license and good driving record required.

• Vast knowledge of aquaculture. 
• Record keeping, organizational skills.

• Ability to communicate both verbally and in written form. 
• Must show a positive attitude and work well with others.
