WorkSource Montgomery, Inc. (WSM) is a nonprofit organization and fiduciary agent for Workforce Innovation Opportunity Act (WIOA) funding in Montgomery County. The non-profit organization operates the American Job Centers (AJC) in Wheaton and Germantown and provides employment services to county residents who are unemployed or underemployed. Additionally, WSM engages employers in various industries throughout the county to ensure that their workforce needs are met.


Position Overview:


WorkSource Montgomery is seeking a Program Coordinator to support operations at the new Federal Workforce Career Center (FWCC). This full-time, on-site role is responsible for fielding inquiries from federal workers, jobseekers and employers, assigning cases to Career Specialists, maintaining accurate records in the Maryland Workforce Exchange (MWE), and supporting employer outreach and referral activities. The ideal candidate is organized, customer-focused, and enthusiastic about helping federal workers navigate their next career.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Serve as the first point of contact for individuals contacting or visiting the FWCC.

  • Respond to phone calls, emails, and walk-ins with professionalism and timely follow-up.

  • Provide accurate instructions to jobseekers on navigating initial intake and orientation.

  • Assign jobseeker cases to appropriate Career Specialists based on program needs.

  • Enter and maintain participant records in the Maryland Workforce Exchange (MWE) system with accuracy and protect PII confidentiality.

  • Conduct outreach to prospective federal workers and jobseekers through phone, email, LinkedIn, and community engagement.

  • Provide information and referrals to internal WSM programs and external partner services as appropriate.

  • Support and assist the coordination of FWCC events and workshops as needed.

  • Assist with tracking outcomes, compiling service data, and preparing reports on behalf of the FWCC Senior Manager.

  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of FWCC & WorkSource operations.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:



  • Excellent customer service, oral, and communication skills.

  • Familiarity with workforce development programs, especially those supporting dislocated workers and/or federal workers in transition.

  • Strong data entry and record-keeping abilities.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and web-based systems (experience with MWE and Excel preferred).

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

  • Comfortable interacting with jobseekers from diverse backgrounds and experience levels.


Education & Experience:



  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in workforce development, social services, or related field required.

  • Prior experience in case management, customer service, or administrative support is a plus.

  • Experience using the MWE and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems such as ATLAS are strongly preferred.

  • Any offer of employment is contingent upon successful completion of WSM's pre-employment screening processes.


Status: Full Time, non-exempt. This is a grant-funded position with current funding through June 2027. Continuation beyond the pilot phase is contingent upon program outcomes and future funding.


Location & Hours: The position is on-site four days and remote one day per week and is based at the WSM American Job Center in Wheaton, MD. Applicants should be local to the DC Metro region with the ability to travel to the Wheaton office regularly. Work hours are 8:30 am – 5:00pm.
