Feed Mill Technician

The Feed Mill Technician plays a key role in delivering exceptional customer service and ensuring efficient feed production operations. This position is responsible for maintaining accurate records, performing routine maintenance, and supporting the overall functionality of the facility. In addition, the technician fosters a positive work environment by promoting teamwork, effective communication, and adherence to all safety policies and procedures. The role is vital in supporting the cooperative’s mission to provide outstanding service to its members and patrons.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. (Other duties may be assigned)

• Maintains a clean, professional appearance at all times.
• Demonstrates consistent, prompt, and reliable attendance.
• Flexibility to work variable schedules, including different days, shifts, and overtime as needed.
• Complies with all applicable state and federal laws, regulations, and codes.
• Promotes a safe work environment by adhering to all safety policies, procedures, and reporting protocols.
• Communicates effectively—both verbally and in writing—with customers, coworkers, and management.
• Builds and maintains positive relationships with customers; assists walk-in customers promptly, respectfully, and professionally.
• Responsible for inventory counts and accurate record-keeping.
• Handles physical tasks such as sacking feed, loading, and unloading grain trucks.
• Maintains strong attention to detail and ensures accurate documentation for regulatory compliance and internal records.
• Ensures cleanliness and organization of the facility and equipment to meet safety and operational standards.
• Maintains up-to-date knowledge of all feed products and services, responsible for proper mixing of feed and medication. 
• Performs all other duties as assigned to support efficient mill operations.

This role requires frequent physical activity, including lifting up to 50 pounds, climbing ladders up to 180 feet, and performing tasks that involve standing, walking, kneeling, and using all major senses and motor functions. Employees must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean, safe driving record; be forklift certified or willing and able to obtain and maintain certification; and work safely in challenging environments with exposure to extreme temperatures, hazardous materials, elevated noise levels, and moving mechanical parts, while strictly adhering to all safety protocols and procedures.
