Job Description

Antheia is hiring an entry level Fermentation Technician/Research Associate to operate fermentation processes to produce valuable plant natural products in S. cerevisiae.  The main responsibilities for the position are fermenter preparation, assembly and tear down, fermentation monitoring and sampling, and medium preparation. The preferred candidate will have experience running microbial fermentation processes in fermenters.

This is a full-time position, with weekend shifts occasionally, as needed. Occasional overtime or shift changes may be required.

Responsibilities include:

• Fermenter preparation, autoclaving, setup, maintenance, and operation


• Fermenter inoculation, sampling, sample processing and data logging


• Monitoring fermentation process, ensuring experiments are running according to plan


• Mechanical troubleshooting of fermenters and other lab instruments


• Preparing assemblies and components for various experimental setups


• Preparing media and other Stock solutions as assigned


• Chemical, media, and consumables inventory checking


• Performs other laboratory housekeeping tasks as assigned


• Running 96-well plate experiments by following an experimental plan

Qualifications/Experience:

• B.S. or Associate’s degree with 1+ year experience or equivalent work experience


• Candidates must be able to work the weekend shift when needed. Occasional overtime or shift changes may be required.


• Experience using standard lab tools and equipment such as pipettes, pH meter, spectrophotometer etc.


• Experience running lab-scale fermenters including setup, sampling, tear down is preferred - Training will be provided


• Must be able to frequently transport lab equipment/items up to 25 pounds of weight


• Mechanical aptitude to assemble and troubleshoot equipment


• Understanding of biology and microbiology techniques


• Good command of basic Physical Chemistry.


• Display strong attention to detail, and strictly follow all safety and lab regulations

Additional Information:  

Full-time, base hourly pay range of $28.00/hour - $35.00/hour.
