Fiber Optic Splicing Manager - MO 11, 7 and 12

Description

We are seeking a skilled Fiber Optic Splicing Manager with hands-on experience in fiber splicing and testing. This role will be responsible for overseeing splicing activities in the field, validating test data, and ensuring documentation accuracy. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, technically proficient, and comfortable working in both office and field environments—including nights and on-call situations as needed.

Requirements and Responsibilities:

• Perform and oversee fiber optic splicing and testing in the field, including opening and documenting splice enclosures and FDPs.
• Evaluate OTDR traces and power meter readings to verify fiber performance and integrity.
• Create and maintain Method of Procedure (MOP) documents and coordinate Change Advisory Board (CAB) calls to schedule and gain approval for splicing work.
• Collaborate with engineering teams and vendors to ensure splice documentation is accurate, complete, and legible.
• Ensure that all splicing documentation is properly updated and recorded for long-term reference.
• Work nights and be available for on-call support when splicing assistance is needed.
• Support quality assurance by reviewing splice plans and making necessary updates or corrections.
• Maintain clear communication with internal stakeholders and external vendors to align on project requirements and timelines.

Requirements

Qualifications:

• 3 to 5 years of experience in fiber optic splicing and testing.
• Strong understanding of fiber testing techniques, including OTDR and power meter analysis.
• Ability to work independently in the field and under variable conditions.
• Experience creating and managing MOPs and participating in CAB calls.
• Strong attention to detail in reviewing and updating technical documentation.
• Ability to work nights and respond to on-call needs when required.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
