Job Description
The Broadband OSP Engineer is responsible for designing, optimizing fiber optic networks to ensure high-quality broadband service delivery and overseeing the planning, execution, and management of fiber optic construction projects. This role entails splicing diagram creation, field staking, contractor management, and ensuring compliance with build estimates and construction methods. Position requires a strong understanding of fiber optics, network design principles and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
SALARY: $85,000 - $90,000/year
Key Responsibilities
Design and develop fiber optic network architectures for residential and commercial broadband services.
Conduct site surveys and analyze geographical and environmental factors affecting fiber installation.
Create detailed engineering drawings and documentation for fiber network projects.
Collaborate with project managers, construction teams, and vendors to ensure timely and cost-effective project execution.
Perform network capacity planning and optimization to enhance service performance.
Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in fiber optic technology.
Troubleshoot and resolve network design issues as they arise.
Organize and file necessary paperwork and staking sheets.
Manage contractor relationships as needed.
Work closely with splicers to ensure proper fiber installation and connectivity.
Qualifications & SKILLS
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (preferred), Telecommunications or Construction Management or related field.
Experience in construction, splicing, and project management.
Proven experience in fiber optic network design and implementation.
Strong workload management and organizational skills.
Knowledge of construction methods, industry standards, estimates, and materials required for fiber builds.
Proficiency in Esri, GIS, CAD or similar software.
Must be able to pass pre-employment screenings
